The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

I fully expect to get an underwhelming hire, were the worst job to take in the league from an ownership and roster standpoint.
New stadium
Young talented QB
High draft pick in '26 (possibly a haul if traded)
$90 Mill in cap space.

I'd say.........not a bad gig.......... and there are only 32 of them.

I trust Borgonzi to make the right hire.

Who's your guy?

I'm not sure sure about the second point. But I think coaches may think they could mold him into a good NFL QB.

Mike McCarthy is my #1.........unless Tomlin becomes available.
I'd take Brian Flores as HC and Brian Daboll as OC......it's a pipe dream.

Robert Saleh is decent option.

I know they are "retreads" but the Titans need someone with experience.

In all seriousness..........this is the biggest hire in their history. It has to be the right one. Amy needs to keep her hands out of this and let Borgonzi do his job.

Borgonzi is all football and knows what to do. If he makes the decision, I believe it will be the right one.

The Titans need a steady, veteran coach who will get them to the playoffs 60% of the time and not have a losing season until he's been here for 7-8 years so they can fire him. McCarthy fits that mold, but the Giants may outbid for him. I wouldn't be against them hiring someone like Marvin Lewis. 5 losing seasons over 16 years with the Bengals and 7 playoff appearances isn't too bad consodering where the Titans are now.

I like your list except for Flores. We have enough problems without having to look over our shoulder constantly because he's in the middle of a lawsuit against the league.

Such a stupid thing to highlight. It gets PK social media engagement so I understand why he does it.
Viewership fluctuates with wins / losses and post season chances. It's nor like "lost" interest in cities is a permanent factor. In other words, Titans will "win" viewers when the team is competitive again.

I was just thinking about Cam Ward compared to other QBs over time. Next year will be crucial, it's almost like another year one for him.

He's going to have to grow up in this league quickly next season.
He will. Most rookies are in the same boat. A better compliment of players should also help us know what we have in him. Not a bad year to take a pass on a draft QB this year, imo. The QB class doesn't seem to be particularly strong this year.

It doesn't, but I don't think it was a great class last year either.

I just need to see him doing something well, but as you said there's not much around him. And that's why I don't have the faith in these decision makers many others to. Outside of Nashville nobody really thinks this franchise is anything but a dumpster fire to be avoided.

I know that can change with winning some games. But we're still at year zero, maybe 0.25 of our rebuild after two years.

Front office thought they had gotten us further along than they did...... That's a recurring theme with this franchise and the trend is undeniable.

The fan base thought the same thing and has the same trend.

Borgonzi hasn't done anything yet to make me "trust him." Certainly the Dan Moore signing was questionable at the time and it looks even worse now since Moore has been super mediocre.

Firing Callahan was a step in the right direction though. Getting a 5th rounder that could become a 4th rounder for Jones was really solid too, since he was only on the team for about 6 months.

But I agree that, on the surface, the job has intrigue. Basically a blank slate for a new HC and enough money bring in the players that can fit their coaching style. We need an experienced HC that does a good job identifying talent and can bring in a good play caller.

Of all the turnover among staff and players, how is it Tennessee is still plagued with PK?

Issue is the two that have the final say (Brinker and nepo baby) are incompetent and they have proved they have no clue what they are doing...

They have to let him (Borgonzi) make the call............

fwiw..............I believe it's time for Amy's nephew Kenneth to become more involved.

As long as Brinker is in his capacity, all you will attract are aging retreads looking for a final payday or a CINO (Coordinator in Name Only) looking to get life changing money...

PK enjoys feeling like the smartest guy in the room/press box at every Titans game and presser. Also enjoys shouting down what he considers dumb redneck yokels who call in to talk Titans on the radio. He loses that feeling of superiority if he ever goes to another market.
