So Mavericks OWNERSHIP didn't want to invest all that money in Luka and had Harrison to trade Luka. Now Luka is balling out in L.A. and Mavericks are struggling, then Harrison is the scapegoat for all of it. 🤣🤣🤣🙃

Management signed off on it, but this is not scapegoat stuff. This is ultimately on Harrison. He's the basketball guy. Ownership does not know hoops. They are a group that has made a fortune trusting the industry-specific expertise of the managers they have installed over various businesses. They trusted Nico, too. He ruined that trust. He's gotta go.

They messed up by not relying on Dirk and Cuban as sounding boards for this move, but why wouldn't you fire the basketball guy who made the most inexplicable personnel move of all time?

I agree Harrison should be fired but the Ownership should be taking heat from the MEDIA and Mavericks fans. Which I'm neither one.. .

Yeah, IDK to what degree, but I feel like the fans I know and the media I listen to made sure the blame pie was shared.

Haralabob REALLY wanted Jrue back around 2020. He and Luka would've been the nastiest backcourt.

Jrue has never had a PER over 20.

Jokic's lowest per was 21.5 his rookie sesson...

Luka and Jrue would have been nasty but if Nico made this comment in 2021 when he first got with Mavs, yikes....

There is no universe in which that trade makes sense once Jokic was playing MVP-level ball, simply because the league doesn't see the value the same.

But if you're not looking at it like a business or player value, you're simply looking at who makes a championship more likely, I can understand preferring Jrue 5 - 6 years ago. It seemed like Jokic probably had a ceiling because of defense, and he wasn't going to be a championship player, whereas Jrue has no championship-limiting qualities. He's a borderline all-star on offense, can shoot 3's OK, and is maybe the best perimeter defender of the era.

It came as no suprise to anybody that he was a key player on 2 different title teams, but it was kind of suprising that Jokic became a solid defender and somehow his offense got much better, too.

Mostly, I just wanted to know if it was something Nico said 2 years ago, when Jrue was totally attainable, and the evaluation made far less sense than it did 5-6 years ago.

I know you youngster don't know who this guy was but he was a pretty good player for the New Jersey Nets in the 80's. Was Drafted by Knicks in 1978..
