Game Thread: Lady Vols v UT-Martin, Away, Sun. Nov 9th, 3PM, ESPN+; (Win 72-61)

I know it's treated pretty casually these days but I do hope players are really careful about playing with COVID...trying to work out after a COVID infection is how I ended up with 4 years (and counting) of long COVID.
I totally agree! I contracted it almost two weeks ago and just eased back into running last week. It is no joke!

i also wonder if some of it has to do with losing so many three point shooters. we don't really have any real three point specialists like last year. to me, last year was slower/not as athletic but had better leadership and buy-in even at this point in the season last year
We are shooting 36% from 3 right now. That is a good number for live game action. Problem is, they were hesitant to shoot open looks in the first half. We have also only taken 7 more shot attempts than UT martin because of the slow movement on the offensive end. 22 turnovers so far doesn't help either.

Next time on offense look at the set we run. We never establish post before the shot goes up and you’ll find the post players roaming on the perimeter.
Exactly! I’m not able to see, but can listen. The announcer has been making comments about it.

I don’t understand why the staff keeps running ISO action for Zee against smaller players. It almost always ends up in a travel or charge.

I know it isn’t Kim’s style, but a simple post touch in the paint would be nice.
Kim has to be able to adapt to the game when things aren’t working. Try something different. Who says you can’t have multiple different set actions and styles to be successful.

i really hate playing these small tennessee schools. just like memphis last year and MTSU the year before, sometimes they are our UGLIEST games.

They really get up for the University of Tennessee. Makes for some rough looking games. This will be a good team in their conference. Will end up being a good road win in the long run.

Real talk: UT-Martin represented the hell outta Pat today as her alma mater. Outmatched, out-talented, out-whatevered, but they went toe-to-toe with Tennessee and didn't blink.

I leave it to everyone else to grouse on the Lady Vols problems. I'm just going to tip my hat to UT-Martin for taking their shot.
