They couldn't even bribe the midmajor big 12 into taking them....literally NO ONE wants them in any sport..Nope. I’m in Shelby County and I don’t care if we ever play Memphis in anything. And the multitude of UT fans that I know don’t care either. Football, basketball, tiddlywinks- nothing. Their fan base hates UT more than they like their own program so I see no sense in dignifying them with a game. Not worth the hassle. They can stew in their own kiddie pool.
This. Each team in the country controls their own CFP destiny starting with Week One, regardless of their league or schedule. We didn’t get the job done. One thing Vol fans have to realize is Tennessee can not control other teams. Memphis & Vandy can play good football if they elect to& both have. Vanderbilt now has a solid strategy using the portal to maintain a competitive team. They’ll find another experienced QB next year if Pavia leaves & will field a competitive team.
AR is going to have limited options in a year like this with so many open slotsNot surprised. BUT...if we've learned anything so far (excluding Coach Heupel) the AAC is CLEARLY not a proving ground for Power 4 head coach positions. Not saying one won't happen...just haven't seen it yet (CJH proved his worth at other P4 programs too) JMO.
Memphis ONLY chance to ever play in the CFP is staying right where they are. The “Welfare Slot” will be their only chance to get in. I told my neighbor who’s a big tiger fan “You do not want to be in a major conference because that will put an end to your playoff hopes.”They couldn't even bribe the midmajor big 12 into taking them....literally NO ONE wants them in any sport..
it's so sad and funny at the same time
Vandy and Memphis both making the playoffs over Tennessee would be an intriguing scenario. Of course Vandy would have to beat TN head-to-head to get in. Which would mean they are the better team and more deserving.
Memphis taking care of their business, we didn't.Here’s the playoff field, for now
First and foremost, this would be the 12-team playoff field if the postseason were to begin tomorrow, starting with the 12th seed: Memphis, Virginia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas Tech, BYU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, Indiana and Ohio State
Who would have ever thunk it?
Neyland Stadium 102.455 fan capacity
Memphis Stadium 59,000.
