Lol, I said 5 straight. Is that correct? What about barely scraping by MS State? What about Arkansas at home? Like I said, I'm in no way campaigning for his demise but to ignore some signs is something I'm not willing to do. My confidence has fallen this year. He has two more opportunities to gain some back. We'll see how it goes.3 of those tries were on the road (home team was favored) and think GA was favored this year. OU game was not good You omit the Bama victory last year as that doesn’t align with your opinion. Things are not as bad as you portray imo
Do you not think a coach that early in his tenure deserved a little more leeway? If you go back and look at my post back then, you could nary find a criticism other than Tim Banks. At this point in the 2023 season you could've said this (almost) exact statement. We didn't beat a single ranked opponent during the 2023 regular season until smashing Iowa in the bowl game. And prior to that, if you exclude the Orange Bowl crushing of Clemson it was 5 straight regular season ranked games between beating Bama in 2022 to beating Bama in 2024... yeah.... we didn't win a single regular season ranked game for two whole years. (Against teams who finished the season ranked)
Yet, in 2024 we went 10-3 and got a playoff berth with a redshirt freshman QB anyway.
The concern is the defense next year but with the portal I'm not hand-wringing about that 3 days before the 50th anniversary of the gales of November coming early (RIP). Next years team is a problem for next year.
Simpson isn't that great, IMO. He's a system guy. But NFL GMs are stupid and routinely try putting square pegs in round holes. I just think it's a mistake. Better players to be had.Whether we like it or not, Simpson or Mendoza are projected as First QB's off the board..Jets will definitely take a QB..
Also, if McCoy doesn't play this year, he needs to be a stud in workouts and at the combine to make his pick make sense. Needs to show he still has IT and hasn't lost a step. Don't get me wrong. I love the kid and want the best. But if I'm an NFL GM using a first round pick, I want to be sure of what I'm getting.
