Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Easier said than done. 19/20 me would be fighting and helping my brother deal for $$$. Lots of fighting and dumb s***. 25 year old me was married and working at a Big four accounting firm. Home life and outside help changes people.
With the resources and support Boo has been given at UT it’s 100% on him now. I’m not saying it’s easy and am thankful for a great family growing up but he’s been in a phenomenal situation for the last 2 years and his current situation is on him. Hope he figures it out but odds are getting extremely long.

9-3 is the best case scenario this season. We'll see how it plays out. Breaking in a new QB next year, most likely a freshman or redshirt freshman. I don't see much better next year given that and the schedule. We haven't beat a ranked team in 5 straight tries.
At this point in the 2023 season you could've said this (almost) exact statement. We didn't beat a single ranked opponent during the 2023 regular season until smashing Iowa in the bowl game. And prior to that, if you exclude the Orange Bowl crushing of Clemson it was 5 straight regular season ranked games between beating Bama in 2022 to beating Bama in 2024... yeah.... we didn't win a single regular season ranked game for two whole years. (Against teams who finished the season ranked)

Yet, in 2024 we went 10-3 and got a playoff berth with a redshirt freshman QB anyway.

The concern is the defense next year but with the portal I'm not hand-wringing about that 3 days before the 50th anniversary of the gales of November coming early (RIP). Next years team is a problem for next year.

And we had that game if it wasnt for our kicker...Our biggest issue is our defense, particularly depth in the secondary and the line.
No our biggest problem is we can’t get all 3 phases of our team to play good on the same day. As I believe I heard on volquest podcast.

Against UGA our D and special teams ( kicker) let us down while our offense played well enough to win.

Bama The offense served up bama points

UO the offense turned it over 3 times and served up 7 for them and special teams didn’t even try to return a punt and missed a kick.

UGA has basically the same numbers as us... By age? Age is the most predictive metric for success to you?

****, I know a bunch of guys in their 30s and 40s who play in flag football leagues. Let's go get them. Championship imminent.
No I’m not the one using age to feel better about how we been playing.
I’m pointing out others that are age equal have been better.
You totally didn’t understand did you?

Knox Kiffin has gone from,

"I ain't moving to Gainesville, bro."

to this, and Florida fans are still mostly convinced they are getting his dad. I honestly don't think any other fan base in the country believes that.

I’m a big fan of Joey. He seems like a great person and I think he has had a good year, statistically, other than turnovers. So 8-9 wins based on average QB play is what we are gonna get, because average QB play is what we got. Really excellent for stretches, but really atrocious in some key moments. He exceeded expectations until he didn’t. Which equals average QB play.

And that is not me putting all the blame on him. Lots of critical mistakes have been made by coaches and players this year.
Unfortunately I don’t think a second year Joey under CJH would have made most of those bad interception decisions.

This is first year he has every played at this level.

I would love to know how much ESPN spent on their marketing campaign to encourage YouTube TV customers to harass Google into raising their own subscription rate.

Looks like it was mostly wasted. Google seems to have leverage in this situation and Disney is not used to being in one of these disputes when the other party has the leverage. Every day ESPN/Disney channels are off YTTV, ESPN loses another 5 million dollars.

People didn’t get to start with that it was content provider forcing their subscriptions to raise now after the continuous disputes people are realizing Disney is more to blame then the distributors.

i would love to see one content provider walk away from Disney and offer really cheap rate for a package minus Disney.

i bet they would have lots of takers who don’t watch sports.

Little biased but I got to have Andy Kelly on that list. He was my favorite when I was a teenager and really getting into UT football. Guy beat ND in the miracle at South bend. Not to mention any QB list without Condredge on it is illegitimate as has been said already.
I loved Kelly too. He may have not had the tools of some but he definitely had IT... and a cool facemask, Carl Pickens, and Aaron Hayden

A better run game would help alleviate this issue.

Another "of course" We have the best passer under Heup and he's had the worst run game. Better run game, less pass attempts.

We have any semblance of a running game and we're 7-2, maybe 8-1. The Turds were tough at home.
