PFF Mock Draft has McCoy, Josephs and Hood

I’d be shocked if anyone took McCoy that early given that he really has only played one year in a power 4 program and is coming off a significant injury…wish the best for him but he might do better playing another year in college

Seems more like what you want to be the case than what will be the case. If his tape last year was good enough to warrant CB1 consideration then he'll probably go in the first round this year. Or at the very least early Day 2. Its not unprecedented for guys coming off injuries to go in the 1st round.

I kind of agree. I'd kind of want to see some film post injury if I was going to take him with my 1st.

He transferred from OSU which was a P5 program at the time. In his 1 year in the SEC he was a shut down corner in the best conference. The NCST, OU, and Bama games are enough to show how elite he is.

It highlights the big problems with NIL money now. The NFL has insurance on players to mitigate the risk they might get injured. TN just has the eat the cost of two players on the bench

Man, really a testament to Josh Josephs' work ethic if he ends up being drafted in a similar position to Pearce last year. We've heard for three years how much more talented JPJ was, but JJ is a workhorse, man. He's one of those players that gives a little extra; makes you proud he's on your team.

Oregon St was a power 5 program when he was there.

And plenty of guys have gotten taken early in the draft despite concerns over torn ACLs.

He proved enough last year and he'll be completely healthy for the combine to showcase his skills. Virtually no chance he falls out of the first round.

It’s amazing since back in the preseason one of our resident experts insisted that Josephs was garbage and shouldn’t even be starting…😂

My bad, was thinking we got him from a small school

Tennessee doesn't eat any NIL money. NIL money goes to a collective which gets funds donated by businesses or fans. It costs nothing to UT... the only financial loss to UT is the revenue share portion an injured player gets a revenue share.. not sure you count that as a loss and they might have insurance to cover that. Have no idea if collectives / businesses / donors have some coverage. Businesses can continue to have the injured player fulfill his obiligations to collect his NIL.

that is my understanding of the processes...

To me, Josephs has seemed to cool off after the first 4 games or so. I'm surprised he's a first-rounder at this point.

No way McCoy goes that high unless he comes back and proves he's 100%.
Exactly.
Oh he would still get drafted if he sat out completely, but he needs to show the NFL that he is completely healed.

When has a cornerback ever been drafted in the first round coming off knee surgery when they missed an enitre season? Not trying to be a douche I'm just curious. I can't think of one.

VFL Kevin Simon on the radio earlier today was talking about McCoy. Simon said that in his NFL scouting experience, they will always look for the smoothest, easiest ready player meaning no injuries. He would expect McCoy to go probably 3rd round if he doesn't come back and play this season proving he is back and that Hood would likely go ahead of him the draft because of it.
