I remember an article a few years ago that mentioned some existing tube manufacturing and you do see some high end amps and headphone amps with tubes, but no clue where you get replacements now. I think I'm beyond caring anyway - when you need hearing aids, you are beyond what audiophiles think they hear.
I am going to move my sound system from Chattanooga though - Onkyo amp and Definitive Technology speakers; those are significantly better than the Bose system I have here. Probably move my old Pioneer speakers (80 something lbs each) - they still look great and make wonderful speaker stands for the Def Techs - the wife disagrees about that but you gotta live a little dangerously to enjoy life.
All the best audio systems i have heard in my lifetime were built 1 piece at a time from components. Yes you can drop $10k or more and get an entire system from Bose etc ... but the best sounding and by far hardest hitting systems I have heard were built by audiophiles 1 piece ar a time over many years. When someone knows what theyre doing selecting components and speakers etc the results are truly impressive in comparison. You can also buy a used BMW , or a new Ducati for what is eventually spent over time![]()
The problem is for most people watching this is entertainment. So they react as if the only goal is championships. To the people who matter, the ones making the decisions….the university…..it’s a business. Decisions are made on a cost/benefit analysis.
The reality is football has made more money under CJH than the last 3 coaches combined. The money spent on Boo is peanuts. He was given a chance to increase his value. He didn’t, so he’s likely going to leave. Those same people worried about Boo are thinking CJH is on the hot seat. The university isn’t thinking CJH is on the hot seat. They’re wishing the fans would STFU so CJH doesn’t think about leaving.
make sure you, or someone, can still access those systems.I can't wait to hear mine. My IT guy is probably the illegitimate son of @NorthDallas40, I asked him for advice on a surround sound system for the new house. He asked if I trusted him and if so could he just handle it all. He went a little tad overboard, I have hidden speakers everywhere inside and outside and supposedly I'll be able to control everything off my phone or tablet.
One word. Sonos. Thank me later.I can't wait to hear mine. My IT guy is probably the illegitimate son of @NorthDallas40, I asked him for advice on a surround sound system for the new house. This is another reason to use Sonos. They have a marketing video where they gave the smart phone with the app to a 5 year old and they operated it. I realize they used a 5 year old but with a little work you’ll master itAccess? Hell I don't know where most of it is. I'm going to need an instruction video on how to turn the damn thing on.
What did he choose instead of Sonos?

We remodeled what was previously a gym/exercise. Not adding the sound system this year, probably next year (remodel was about twice what I originally thought). Will not go this far, but intend to have a nice system with a phonograph. Time to listen to real music again.I can't wait to hear mine. Do you have a 5 year old handy?I have a Sonos portable speaker and I have yet to be able to get the damn thing synced to my phone.
The home theater is Pioneer Elite which I think is owned by Onkyo now. They each have their own app. Not sure why you have two receivers but you likely need at least one dual zone receiver. One for home theater one for whole house audio. That is how my system began life. Now the home theater is stand alone and whole house audio is all Sonos. All of the speakers are Polk, 1 receiver is an Onkyo and the other is a Denon. No idea about the amps and other components, he explained why I needed 2 receivers but I have no idea what he said but it sounded like he knew what he was talking about and I already had the Denon.
