Chit, I knew I wasn't going to college right away. Joined the 1st day I could as a "senior" in HS (which IIRC, is like 15 days after the graduating class). I talked to the Marines first, went home, told my dad. He was like WTF did you talk to them for*? They had the best dress uniforms at the time (until the Army brought back the pink and greens).

Funny enough, there are a TON of former infantry Marines in the Army because we promote faster, and don't use Army hand me down equipment from a decade ago.

*(Literally almost every military member of the family has been Army). We had 1 AF, but he was Army and went AF when they split.

To people who complain about wasted NIL money on Boo etc...AP just said that Dalton Knecht made $125k here and so did Sampson who was SEC MVP...so fans have no idea what these players are actually making. Some make waay less than market value

I had 2 uncles serve with 173rd in Vietnam, one made the jump so when I decided to join jump school was a must. I went to the MC first for pretty much the same reason you did, if they could have guaranteed jump school and shipped me out before my mom found out I dropped out of college I'd had been a Marine.

I remember an article a few years ago that mentioned some existing tube manufacturing and you do see some high end amps and headphone amps with tubes, but no clue where you get replacements now. I think I'm beyond caring anyway - when you need hearing aids, you are beyond what audiophiles think they hear.

I am going to move my sound system from Chattanooga though - Onkyo amp and Definitive Technology speakers; those are significantly better than the Bose system I have here. Probably move my old Pioneer speakers (80 something lbs each) - they still look great and make wonderful speaker stands for the Def Techs - the wife disagrees about that but you gotta live a little dangerously to enjoy life.

Sometimes life or pure dumb luck saves us from doing dumb things - like being a Marine.

The problem is for most people watching this is entertainment. So they react as if the only goal is championships. To the people who matter, the ones making the decisions….the university…..it’s a business. Decisions are made on a cost/benefit analysis.
The reality is football has made more money under CJH than the last 3 coaches combined. The money spent on Boo is peanuts. He was given a chance to increase his value. He didn’t, so he’s likely going to leave. Those same people worried about Boo are thinking CJH is on the hot seat. The university isn’t thinking CJH is on the hot seat. They’re wishing the fans would STFU so CJH doesn’t think about leaving.
