Never thought I’d read this nonsense. It’s been a tough year but are we really at risk of running off our coach for one subprime season?
I mean the article is dead-on in today's me-me-me what have you done for me lately world. It's true that the easy route would be for CJH to escape while the getting's good.

Having said that, I don't think that's the kind of guy he is. And he'd have to basically start over at Penn state. I think coach genuinely wants to win national championship here and it's in our genuine interest to retain him at all costs.

In sum, at this point it would be a p*ssy move.

We didn't have a potential Heisman candidate leading the way last year. He didnt get his thrid loss in the playoffs.

Why say stupid stuff?
People are determined to deem themselves as “better” Vols fans by constantly letting the world know they don’t accept mediocrity.

Likely every aspect they control in their own lives is nothing short of mediocre so they must hold something they don’t control to a higher standard than they do themselves to overcompensate for their personal shortcomings.

If Josh leaves, I won’t cry over it. He’s a great guy and a very good college coach. However, he’s made some in-game mistakes and he’s had some rough luck on bad officiating, injuries, and of course player/NIL drama. If he wants to be great, he’s going to have to overcome those things, win big games on the road, and improve on making in-game adjustments. I hope he stays.

Three losses in the Big 10 is like 5-6 losses in the SEC. But the fact does remain that Penn State fired a coach who wins 9-10 games minimum every year.

I’m no fan of Franklin but he was a good and consistent coach. I think running him off will come back to bite them as Penn State isn’t the storied program that they think they are, and I say that with no disrespect.

Their only two claimed national titles came when they were independent and it’s hard to win a natty. Franklin was good for 9-10 wins a season and eventually he would’ve caught lightening in a bottle and maybe won it all.

Get off Banks everybody! Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he have the #1 defense in the SEC and had the #2 defense in the country last year? Injury bug, transfer portal, and problem child, has destroyed our defense this year. Banks has had to put a band aid on our defense all year, every game. Amongst it all, our defense has come up with some pretty cool turnovers and tds for our offense. We got some ballers on that D right now. Banks will fix it. One more question, is it legal for our field goal kicker to take a 0.5mg Ativan 1 hour before the game? So he don't choke? Under a doctor's orders? 😅

if he does leave we have no one to blame but ourselves. After a season where our qb left last second and our star defensive backs are injured all season Tennessee fans lost their mind because we missed the playoffs. How quickly we forget how bad we were before Heupel.

As far as Heup at Penn State goes I bet he would do well. The Big Ten is kind of a cake walk other than Ohio State and occasionally Michigan and Penn State. Do you guys ever look at the spreads? Week and and week out Ohio State is favored by multiple Touchdowns. This week they are favored 29.5. Also, no one is playing the type of offense putting up our type of numbers in the Big Ten. I really, really hope he does not leave but could see the temptation. It is a lot easier to make the top three in the Big Ten than the SEC which would guarantee a playoff spot annually.
Lol if he left because of this modicum of criticism he has received for coaching rather poorly all year long, then so be it. He peaked in year 2 and will never surpass that, whether you hear Rocky Top or Rhythmic Slapping at his home stadium.

We have lost to 3 teams that will probably be in the final top 10, and two of them by less than a TD.

It is USA Today. Not worth using for wiping yourself, and I am in mourning for the trees cut down for their use.

I am not worried about that. Heupel will NOT leave Tennessee for Penn State. Plus, Danny White would match whatever Penn State offers if he did. Also, I was not even aware that Coach Heupel was even on Penn State's radar.

Why the he// is it always the fans fault?!?!?!?! How about the ridiculous prices to go to games creating expectations? Who wants to pay $300-$800 a ticket to lose? Maybe the schools need to look in the mirror and quit blaming those of us that pay these prices along with the media who also doesn’t pay prices either!

the only thing Penn St has over the Vols is their showers at the field house are said to be some of the best

Penn State fired their coach after 3 losses. We celebrated 3 losses last year.
That's framing to fit a narrative. They fired him because he couldn't beat good teams and then started losing to bad teams. 4-21 against ranked teams is tough. Our coach is 3-6. Not great but way better than .160

If Heupel leaves for Penn State I want Lane Kiffin back.
It a popular thought. But it one I share with you. But no worries. Why would Heupel go to a school that fires their coach after taking them to the semi’s of the CFP? Let’s pull it together family! Josh is our guy!

It's always a risk hiring a new coach but big programs have taken chances on great coordinators in the past and it worked out. Lanning at Oregon, Kirby at Georgia, Sark at Texas, to name a few. Not saying Golesh wouldn't be a gamble but unlike those mentioned above, he's at least been at Tennessee running the offense at a high level and knows the expectations. Not to mention he now has head coaching experience. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility.
Lanning walked into a program with money to buy the best players in the country. That always helps.

I hope he won't either and think the odds of him doing so are close to zero. But Re: "....he’s had some rough luck on bad officiating, injuries, and of course player/NIL drama. If he wants to be great, he’s going to have to overcome those things,..."

How do you control the officials, injuries and teenagers who will leave for more money??
