Considering the ticket she received the other night is legally equivalent to a speeding ticket, it’s actually a fair comparison.Never parked in a no parking zone, never really lived a big city to do that honestly. Sure I drove over the speed limit some, usually 5-7 mph but not regularly. Of course, yall are trying to compare tickets to drugs and felonies. Good try though and it still doesnt excuse her for throwing away a second opportunity. We dont have to feel sorry for her, she made her bed and she can lie in it.
I hope so.I don’t think weed is bad at all, most kids do it. I was a daily smoker for 3 years in college in Tennessee.
I also think you have to take into account its legality in Michigan where she is from.
That said, if I was already on probation or under scrutiny. Best be assured I wouldn’t be caught smoking in public if at all.
It’s unfortunate but it put Kim in a tough position and I support the decision that was made. Ruby can likely find somewhere else and get a new start. She’s a good person.
I’m not sure about that. I want to think the players understand that Ruby’s dismissal from the team is not a judgement about her worth as a person. Kim made her decision based on what’s best for the team and the program, not to signal that Ruby is a bad person. She’s not. I’m sure Ruby wants the team to do well because they care about one another:I think you might have meant "it's not devastating." It's not devastating, but it IS detrimental -- at least for a while until the team adjusts.

And yet, she was not charged with a driving offense and was not found to be driving under the influence. She was stopped, agreed to a search and was cited for having a small amount on her. When you've been given a 2nd chance, and you're caught driving and you have marijuana on you then you'll get the outcome you created. First, there was a reason she was stopped in the first place.

I worked on hundreds of criminal cases during and after law school, I certainly know the process of a traffic stop. Your implication was she was breaking the law and was stopped for that. I would argue she was stopped because the UTPD and KPD regularly go on fishing expeditions late at night/early in the morning because they don't have anything better to do. The "smells like weed when the window gets rolled down" is thrown out as a reason for a valid search more often than not today. The excuse for the stop listed in the report was that she was weaving around and failing to maintain her lane. Yet, she wasn't cited for that. I can almost guarantee this stop and charge will be tossed once it gets in front of a session court judge, if not before.I see how that could confuse people. Do you realize you can be stopped on suspicion? For instance, I'm driving along going 25 in the 40. There is a thing as going too slow. It appears suspicious and if I’m trailed by the police just being behind me then I might get stopped. It doesn't mean I've done anything I can be charged with but it's a red flag. I will probably get my license run then asked to be careful. Ok, see ya officer. If I got a bag of weed or it smells like cannibas when the window gets rolled then I might have some issues. Probably got off easier being a Lady Vol.

With all due respect to LVOCD, that was erroneous info:Man,,,,DP, I've not seen you this committed to a cause the whole time I have been on here.
"I would 100% disagree that she got off easier for being a student-athlete. Supervisors review the dash and body cams when someone "known" is stopped to assure that athletes and local celebrities don't receive special treatment. Officers in Knoxville have been terminated for letting athletes off easy."
yet she was per lvocd's post

she was1/100th of a gram from a felony
The weight of a single grain of sand
Wow!! Apologies to Ruby and this board for posting such grossly wrong info! With all due respect to LVOCD, that was erroneous info:
From TN criminal code:
"Personal use, or simple possession, is defined as possessing a half ounce (14.175 grams) or less."
I can also tell you this -- less than an half ounce ain't whole lot. That is barely enough to roll one decent joint (or so I have been told),
Not at all. It's not like she's new to TN.I don’t think weed is bad at all, most kids do it. I was a daily smoker for 3 years in college in Tennessee.

Easy mistake particularly since we ain't a country that is well versed in the metric system.Wow!! Apologies to Ruby and this board for posting such grossly wrong info!I swear I looked it up before posting, but obviously I looked in the place.
I hate that I did that, but am actually relieved to read that I was way off.

Love ya Mad but you’re wrong on this one. A quarter oz, or 7 grams, is an amt. commonly sold at dispensaries (and elsewhere I hear) and is way more than one joint. They sell pre rolls that are about a gram each. CJ is right on this one. A quarter is far more than dust on the shoes. Weed is so strong now that a qtr will last even a habitual smoker a couple of weeks. It’s not nothing.Easy mistake particularly since we ain't a country that is well versed in the metric system.
But an ounce = 28.3495 grams. So, Ruby's 5.59 grams =1/5 of an ounce. Again 1/5 of an ounce.
Seriously, I can pick up more weed than that on my shoes just walking around the park on the campus where I work.
Heck, if you live in the right city, you could probably collect that much weed just holding up a butterfly net in the wind for 2 minutes.
