Ruby Whitehorn dismissed from the team!

Never parked in a no parking zone, never really lived a big city to do that honestly. Sure I drove over the speed limit some, usually 5-7 mph but not regularly. Of course, yall are trying to compare tickets to drugs and felonies. Good try though and it still doesnt excuse her for throwing away a second opportunity. We dont have to feel sorry for her, she made her bed and she can lie in it.
Considering the ticket she received the other night is legally equivalent to a speeding ticket, it’s actually a fair comparison.

I don’t think weed is bad at all, most kids do it. I was a daily smoker for 3 years in college in Tennessee.

I also think you have to take into account its legality in Michigan where she is from.

That said, if I was already on probation or under scrutiny. Best be assured I wouldn’t be caught smoking in public if at all.

It’s unfortunate but it put Kim in a tough position and I support the decision that was made. Ruby can likely find somewhere else and get a new start. She’s a good person.

I hope so.

I think you might have meant "it's not devastating." It's not devastating, but it IS detrimental -- at least for a while until the team adjusts.
I’m not sure about that. I want to think the players understand that Ruby’s dismissal from the team is not a judgement about her worth as a person. Kim made her decision based on what’s best for the team and the program, not to signal that Ruby is a bad person. She’s not. I’m sure Ruby wants the team to do well because they care about one another:

☝️… in the running for Centered Post of the Day!

When you've been given a 2nd chance, and you're caught driving and you have marijuana on you then you'll get the outcome you created. First, there was a reason she was stopped in the first place.

Wearing the Lady Vols uniform is a privilege not a right. I'm glad Kim is adhering to a standard. We could've used Ruby, but this program has lost much bigger names or pieces and been ok.

Good luck to her on getting her life in order.

Sometimes marijuana can kill, not by overdose, but when people drive under the influence of THC. Recent research analyzed coroner records in Montgomery County, Ohio, from January 2019 through September 2024 to identify THC, the psychoactive drug derived from cannabis, in drivers in fatal crashes. Shockingly, close to half (42%) of the drivers killed in crashes tested positive for THC in the blood.
