Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I think Florida fans are starting to realize it will not be Lane Kiffin, but no worries. They are more than willing to go to #2, 3 and 4 on their list...

"I’ve had the feeling for a while it’s not going to be Kiffin. Urban, Riley, or Brohm would be fine with me."

Man that made my day...I know the image I have on here, and I fully accept that is my fault for using this place as a dumping ground for the worst of me for the last 16 years, it is selfish and wrong of me, and you have no idea how many times I've asked the Lord to forgive me for the things I say here...but I've needed it at times to help flush the many frustrations and aggravations of real life in a relatively harmless way....I still have a lot of old me salt in me, and I can never express that in real life.

I'm not the evil piece of garbage I used to be, but I'm still not the man I want to be, and with God's help, I will be...I need more temperance, more patience and more wisdom....more Jesus.

But...this is really who I am..this is my life, I live to help others. 10 years ago we walked away from the financial opportunity of a lifetime in T-Bay to come here to one of the worst places for jobs in the US, simply because I felt this was where God wanted me to be...that is who I really am, and I know I'm where I am supposed to be.

The state contracts our company to take prisoners home from the local minimum security state forest work camp when their time is up, and also we pick up a lot of folks from the local County jails that recieve court ordered drug rehab instead of jail time. A couple of months I picked up a guy who was going to a facility in Louisville and as we got to talking about life, he broke down and told me that he was thinking about ending his life if he couldn't make it work this time...so I told him my long story, and by the time we got there we had bowed down and prayed together and he gave his life to Jesus. He told me as he was getting out at the facility that I was an angel that God had sent his way and that he would never forget it. Man...I have had several experiences like that over the years now...I know I've helped a lot of people overcome and that makes my heart glad.

All that being said..I really am a cantankerous old common sense loving grump too, I really am a salty old redneck, and I truly despise the sickening perversion and insanity that has taken over this world and everyone behind it....that is not an act...I just don't carry on like I do on here about it.

I really REALLY don't like the Idiot Margin either...they really do sicken me....lol.

I've said it before...some day I won't need this place to help vent the anxieties, frustrations and aggravations of life and I will either just change how and what I post, or start a new handle...I'm slowly getting there..lol.

😎
Just now getting around to responding to this. I’ve been avoiding this place lol

Some things are bigger than football, more important than money and loving comfortably, or above our means, above what is necessary. I’m guilty of wanting excess, more than I actually need.

This is what the world needs more of. Folks that put helping others above personal gain. We need more people in the world making and impact. Helping those in need and distress.

We all have a story. McGill, with your background, you can reach/help a completely different person than who I can reach. Because your story is like their story, and it resonates with them. Just like my story resonates with those of a similar background to me, maybe you wouldn’t be able to reach those people because you wouldn’t relate as well.

I appreciate you, your openness and honesty. I appreciate you be real and genuine. Try to get angry less, show more of the loving side.

As I say this, I reflect on myself, the older I get, the more have a desire to show the love of Jesus, the more impatient and intolerant of nonsense I become. It’s a daily battle for me. Wanting to be a kinder, gentlest LaagerVol, vs the reality of my flawed and sinful flesh.

McGill knows this scripture and I won’t quote it word for word but Apostle Paul said “the (good) things that I desire to do, I do not, and the things that I do not desire to do (bad), those things I do. This was one of the greatest men to ever walk on earth who wrote a large portion of the New Testament. If he struggled against his flesh no doubt we all do.

Keeping doing good work McGill

If ou

If our offense went up against Durkin in practice every day it would be the best defense they face all year.

What about last year when they were:

- 9th in conference in total yards
- 9th in pass ypg
- 6th in rush ypg
- 8th in ppg

Or 2023 when his defense (loaded with more talent @ A&M) gave up more ppg than Vols?

Are we falling in love with one year?

Hot take:

I think a 9-3 team has a shot to make the playoff this year. I think we will see much more chaos and a 9-3 SEC or big ten school has a better shot at the playoff than a 10-2 GT, Louisville, or Virginia.

Not that it will happen, but I think we see much more chaos and it could get interesting.
It wouldnt be us if that were the case this year, we have yet to beat a team with a winning record

Go back to his Ole Miss days and look at those rankings. Yikes!

Ya it’s have to be a 2017 auburn type year. They were almost a 2 loss playoff team
Yup, itd be one thing if the bama game and ou game were closer and we had wins vs winning teams

I dont consider ou to be close enough to count as a quality loss, we got a garbage time fg to make it closer

I know this is beating a dead horse, but Heupel HAS to be better with time management.

We got the ball back down 9 with 2 timeouts left and 3:30 on the clock. You have to understand, and make sure the qb understands, that you HAVE to score prior to the 2 minute timeout so that it acts as the third timeout so you dont have to onside it.

This very well could have changed the outcome completely

If the playoff go to 16 teams and the SEC gets 5 in that's roughly 1/3 of the teams. Should we expect the VOLs to be consistently in the top 1/3 of the league?
Yes. With our budget, we should be. When it is put like this, we should be in the playoff 2/3 years. We spend top 4 and it’s mainly about the jimmys and joes in college football.

Yes, we did it with banks last year. One really good year compared to…
