With all these vacancies opening up, i wouldnt be surprised if Huepel left

That was before the portal. Say Heupel took the Auburn job, the roster here at Tennessee opens up and could transfer with him plus the class changes. It wouldn’t be as drastic as what happened
True that. Once the bags quit dropping, the kids knew It was time you git jiggy and roll…

I think you get the same nonsense (people screaming for his firing) in any big-time job. A contingent of Bama fans thought it was time for Saban to retire every time he lost a game.
Yep and after DeBoer lost to Florida State the Bama faithful came on Finebaum show with pitchforks and now the same ones are on his show saying I was wrong and DeBoer may be the next Saban. Yep ppl are very reactional and its usually irrational.

So if Heupel is fired, it's our fault and if he leaves, it's also our fault. Got it.

Who is

Who is Huepel and Kififn? Our fans are idiots, but so is every fanbase and expectations. Been that way since the beginning of time. You must be a newbie football watcher. It's OK, you'll learn!
The man defeated autocorrect. Show some respect.

The way our ridiculous fanbase is with the crazy expectations, I wouldn't blame him for going. I doubt a lot of teams will want to wait for Lane Kififn to reject them in late January

Too many jobs, not enough quality coaches. Be careful what you wish for.
We are not the only fan base with crazy fans.

Did you see the reaction fans AND sec media had after Bama lost to FlSt?????? Paul Finebaum was almost crying.

If they had their way, bama would be coached by an interim HC this season.

Johnny Majors' first 6 seasons at UT:
4-7
5-5
7-5
5-6
8-4
6-5
Didn't win an SEC Championship until his 7th season with a 9-3 record and never won a National Championship in 15 years here but some put him above Fulmer.

Josh Heupel so far taking over probably a tougher situation in a tougher era:
7-6
11-2
9-4
10-3
6-3

Overall, Josh is trending up, but this is the first time the idea of plateauing or regression is hitting him. To his credit, it took 5 seasons to get here.

Everyone wants him to be successful. Part of being successful is maturing. His big issue right now is being loyal to a fault which we have seen cause cracks in a coach's job over time.

He can certainly leave, but some of the expectations at job openings are far, far worse. A lot of them. It's possible that the "worse" expectations at LSU are not unrealistic, but I don't think LSU is looking for him particularly. Anybody looking for a guy to "win big games" is going to see that's not him.

The problem with the shear number of openings is that some of these schools like LSU or Florida or hell even Auburn are going to realize they can’t afford to wait to see if Kiffin is gonna leave Oxford if they wind up making the playoff.

At minimum, any school wanting to talk to Kiffin will have to wait until first week of January if Ole Miss winds up in the playoff as expected.

If you have multiple schools with openings all jockeying for the same guy, they can’t wait until January altogether. So what I think will happen is one of those 3 schools will just make an absurd offer to a biggish name to see if they can pull off a surprise.

Heupel, Drinkawitz, Matt Campbell would be that type of hire.

If those schools wanting Kiffin as the first second and third candidate start to realize he ain’t leaving Ole Miss and waiting till January is way too late, they will need to make a hire of someone that won’t feel like “we struck out on the #1 candidate and had to settle on this guy.”

Sumrall, Will Stein, Golesh types will very much feel like “we settled” hires for those schools. Especially at LSU given they fired Kelly with his record.

I don’t think Josh leaves here but now that we are out of the playoff hunt, he’s gonna get schools wanting to talk to him. There is no reason for a coach to not listen to other schools during bowl prep. There is very big reason why a coach wouldn’t talk to other schools during playoff prep.

And they were calling for Deboer's head after the Florida State loss.

Really? I’d take that bet. Heupel doesn’t strike me as someone who overreacts and makes an emotional move because of a few blowhards, which exist in any fan base mind you. His wife and kids sure seem very happy here too.

I agree with your concerns. When the fan base is over-critical and unsatiable, why wouldn't he entertain a new venue?

Yeah well he wouldn't be immune to fans that would want him fired there too after every loss.. That comes with any big time job with expectations. So if he got fired it would be the fans fault, if he left it would also be the fans fault. Got it. Someone may come after him or at least kick the tires for sure. Way too many jobs open for that not to be a possibility..

Not sure how it would be spun. But if Heupel left to take the LSU job, it would be because he had a chance to take a Top 5 job. Tennessee is like Top 15.

Him moving to Florida or Auburn would be lateral moves that would be more about internal issues at Tennessee more than anything. But if he somehow wound up being the guy at LSU, it is because it is a better job.

I'm not saying I dont have issues with certain things but some people calling for his job after dragging us out of the gutter is lunacy.
