Banks was safeties coach for the last four years and still technically is. Brought in Alan (NFL DC) to be an analyst and help coach safeties. Martinez coaches the corners and star.

Think about it every other program has legitimately competed for SEC Championships other than Football. Women’s hoops will this season as well as win a national championship within three years. When can we expect that with football? The other 4 sports it is tough as nails in the SEC so there are no excuses left.

Who else would you guys expect to see portal?

any ideas on portal additions or important areas of need?

how many can we add to get us to the 105 limit?

Which to me seems stupid...

We have 2 full time coaches that handle LBs which is the smallest defensive group on the team.

DL is RG
OLB is Chop
ILB is Inge

And then you're handing off all the Secondary to Willie and an off-field assistant with who knows how much actual experience.

Oklahoma needs to stay dedicated to their run game. I don’t think they can beat Alabama, but they could keep it close and give themselves a chance.

My frustrating is that Willie or Banks can do in-homes and recruit on the road. If you're leaving it to an off field assistant they can only really interact when the recruits are on campus or at scheduled practices. Not as much interaction.

If we struggle against New Mexico State, then I will worry about the direction of the program

Performance against teams you should destroy is always the canary in the coal mine - shows poor culture, lack of focus, players not bought in

…I think we dust them by a ton

Here's the fact. There really is no gimme games in the SEC like there are in the B1G and the other conferences. Heck the worst teams in the SEC would win the ACC or the B12. The things I can't stand are ball watchers and record/stat googlers. If people can't admit the difficulty of winning the SEC compared to other conference then they're idiots or they have an agenda, which is most of the media and the CFP committee.

I’d expect Merklinger and Boo Carter to for sure portal out.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if someone like Gage Ginther and/or Cole Harrison left. I always look towards guys who committed from a long distant state and aren’t contributing after two years. Probably not fair to speculate on that though.

As far as portal targets - hopefully safety and safety and then safety and if we can find a good safety. Oh, and safety for sure.

Just to be clear...I have done the leg work on this.

We get 11 staff members (including HC) that are permitted to recruit on the road
Tim Banks is listed as ONLY the DC now.
Willie is now listed as coaching Secondary (not just CBs).
We added a senior defensive assistant (Alan Williams), unfortunately the website doesn't state what his job is exactly...he could be the person coaching the safeties during games/practice. But as a non staff member he can't recruit on the road.
