Windy's football discussion thread.

True but they don’t win it without him.
And we’re back to being in the area and things going your way. I remember Majors pretty well. And I don’t think he should have been fired when he was. But clearly he had lost the team to Fulmer when out recovering from the heart attack.

He was pissed at UT for a long time and I don’t blame him
He certainly was not a players coach, which was a good thing back then.

It didn’t help that he wasn’t easy to get along with and told everyone it was a rebuild year. Got sick, and Fulmer won a bunch of games as interim. Took over in the second half of a game up 20 points and didn’t score again. Then lost the next one.

Doomed at that point.

Fulmer was the OC. Opened it up as interim to sandbag Majors.

@BigOrangeMojo
Went down the rabbit hole of the internet discussing wins and losses and ran into a “recruiting specialist “ breaking down our next class. What stuck out is he believes “for the first time “ Hypel has 3 OL committed that are SEC level players.

After our conversation on that I’m curious what you think….of those players, not some random dudes opinion.?

Bigger concern is why we are waiting until Y6 to address this.

Also, we had 3 4* guys in the 2024 class. None of them are starting and guy getting the most PT is a 3* guy. We had to go pay 6 figures to bring in a ND backup because one of those 4* wasnt ready.

It's been a fairly consistent theme since Pruitt's guys circled out of the system that we've struggled against good defenses. The UGA game this year was the exception...

We've lucked out a bit this year since UK, MSU, Arky, and Syracuse are all awful defensively. We've played 3 competent defensive fronts and were whipped twice upfront..

Maybe a different philosophy that didn’t work out…..maybe they were looking at something different in evaluating players…..who knows but without digging into the 4* guys I would not say they waited till year six if the got 3 guys in 24.
And I’m fine with that conversation but more interested in what do we do next.
Although It does speak to the fact that the 3 coming in 26 likely won’t be ready for a couple years. Which brings us back to ….what Do we do for next year? Will sanders and the 4 stars be ready? Do we go get portal lineman again?
Do we at least be happy we’re finally recruiting good lineman this and last cycle?
Not sure where I stand on that
