So I’m gonna tell you what I tell myself:

I can’t change this. I hate how it feels to lose a game we should’ve won, but nothing I do or don’t do has any effect on anything re: our beloved football Volunteers. I’m gonna keep cheering for them, just as I did through Dooley and dipsh*t and Pruitt. Nothing else to do.

We JUST made the playoff a year ago. We had a NY6 bowl and our first 11-win season since 2001 a short 3 years ago. It’s so much better than it was.

Yes, I’m disappointed. Even a little mad. But when all is said and done, there’s no other team in any sport I’d rather be a fan of.

Listen you guys, step back from the ledge,
We have the best set up that we’ve had in 25 years as far as the governor of our state, the president of our state university, the university chancellor, the athletic director and the coaches of our major sports programs. Take a deep breath and just look at the mess that LSU is. We are fine.

You also left out best fans, large recruiting budget and amazing stadium experience. All of it doesn’t matter if you don’t make the playoff consistently and yo-yo between 10 win and 8 win seasons.

Now that UT is out, I’m pulling for old Lame. Would love to see ole miss upset the UGA and Alabama faithful and put SEC over Little10. Ole Miss is only one left, I can pull for.

i cannot imagine that DW and huepel would find land of milk and honey there, esp after what they've built here. the expectations are too high, and it's same conference. we have all the same amenities. apples to apples it's just not that much better

Tony left for the MLB. He wasn't leaving for another college job. Heupel isn't leaving for another college job.

Yep you are correct. As disappointing as the result last night was the game experience and environment there was unmatched in college football.

Who knows? If it goes down that path, I don't think it will be hard to get an 8-4, 9-3 level coach. Y'all go on an on about DW's prowess at hiring coaches. I'm sure he can get us a good one if it comes to that. I never said he should be fired.

Exactly. Does anyone realistically think Danny White would sign up for that? If so, I have some ocean front property you may be interested in on Tatooine.

i want huepel to be successful and i think he will be. many including myself had 9-3. as ll good

Taking the 9 year old to homecoming in a couple weeks for the 3rd year in a row. He tried to stay up for the whole thing last night but lost the fight early 4th quarter. Told him this morning how it played out and then told him we still had the ability to cancel and sell the tickets (my emotions being the biggest motivation for bringing it up).

He looked at me and just said “we only get to go once a year, of course I still want to go. We get to see the walk, the parade, the game and I get to play football at the Vol village before. Why wouldn’t I want to go?”

I should try to grow up and be like him.

I don't know that I'd always believe someone when they say that, but I really think Tony was being honest. He said he got everything he put into the program back from fans when announced as SF manager.

Would DW and CJH both go to LSU who everyone in leadership has an interim title and its currently being run by politics?

Only if they are crazy!

I think perspective is important. LSU won a NC with its previous 3 coaches before BK. Even Ed O can win one there. I’m certainly not defending some of the bonehead in game blunders Heup has done, but he took over an epic disaster here. And has done things no Tenn coach has done in the past 20 years. So he deserves a chance to demonstrate the ability to adapt his staff and coaching. He’s not stupid, he knows what’s working and what isn’t. And he’s demonstrated the ability to adapt his offense over the years. But obviously he needs to take the next step. This next recruiting class will help. And it’ll be interesting to see what he does in the portal and with his coaching staff.

Like I said earlier. It's hard to stay there. In the SEC you are either ascending or descending. We all said we'd never complain about 8-4 again, yet here we are. Success brings new expectations. Fans won't be satisfied with those seasons consistently.
