I'd play George MacIntyre

Sir (or Mam) you must not follow Tennessee or you are just a casual fan because your ignorance is overwhelming.

We have 3 weeks before the Florida game.
We have a bye week this week.
We have New Mexico State in 2 weeks.
We play Florida in 3 weeks.

It’s sad that you think Josh Heupel isn’t capable of getting a QB ready to play on the road with 3 weeks of practice and a game against a 3 win C-USA team.
It's sad you think UT's history with the Swamp is just a "road game." It's one of the most intense rivalry games in the SEC.

Josh Heupel should give the reins to a completely unproven, has he even taken a college snap?, true freshman QB in one of the most hostile environments in college football.

Delusional.

Once again, you don’t follow Tennessee closely because we have this thing called a game in 2 weeks at home that features two teams that play for 4 quarters. And then after that, there is another week of practice and then the road game.

Aguilar has literally no point to play the remainder of the year. he was a transfer portal grab with only one year of eligibility. the season for all practical purposes is over. the remaining games serve only as practice for next year's team. therefore it stands to reason that GMac should be getting all the snaps from here on out. it would be great experience for him to suit up in the swamp.

I don't hate Aguilar, but his purpose on this team has played out now that the season is irrelevant and there's no real difference finishing 9-3 or 7-5. we will get an irrelevant bowl game that nobody will watch or attend.

we need to do the shrewd thing and begin planning for next year.

What does it matter whom plays back there? It doesn't matter when an offensive lineman won't move his feet to stay in front of a defensive rusher and they just watch them go straight to the quarterback. The defense is still going to be in the face of the quarterback shutting the passing game down.
Everyone is being a little too tough on Sanders IMO. The kid is a freshman barely into his third game facing one of the nation’s elite defensive lines.
He is going to make mistakes, some of them big. It happens.

It's not about one bad game behind us. This season is now not much more than a scrimmage for next season. It's about having an experienced QB next year.
He will get some play next game. Joey deserves to finish the year. Josh isn't going to bench him. We want to beat FL and Vandy and that isn't happening with a new QB.

Absolutely. A bye week and a cupcake and Josh Heupel can turn any QB into someone who can tear up the Swamp.

And I'm a casual fan. You believe in miracles.

I’m not slighting Joey at all but if things get shaky next year, Heupel using the excuse of “Joey deserved to finish the season last year when we could gotta reps for Merk/Mac instead” won’t fly.

He’s paid to make the tough decisions. Heupel cares too much about a popularity contest.

I agree 💯 there's literally no point starting a QB that serves no purpose for the future of this team. in a few weeks he will leave and we will never see him again.

You think Heupel is going to throw in the towel on this season and put in a young QB for "preparation" with games remaining against FL and Vandy? That's insane. He's not doing it.

Florida fired their coach. Josh Heupel is in year 5 with a talented group of receivers and running backs. Quite arguably the best offense Tennessee has taken to the swamp since Dooley’s 2011 squad when Justin Hunter tore his ACL. The difference here is that it’s a meaningless game that is nothing more than a scrimmage hyped up as some vital pivot game.

There’s far more long term benefits to ripping the bandaid off now and spending the next 3 weeks with the QB’s here next year than it is keeping them bubble wrapped out of blind loyalty.

Joey had his shot and deserves to finish the year. He is one of the few bright spots on this team and deserves respect. He is not without fault, but it’s not all his fault.
this is just a bad take. Heupel's primary obligation is to the future of his program, not loyalty to a player he literally picked off the street a few short months ago.

we need to be getting valuable playing time for the QBs who we will be relying on NEXT YEAR, not letting a lame duck QB continue to play for no point at all.

this is not a commentary on Aguilar being a bad QB, but for all practical purposes he is useless to us now. we are out of contention and need to reset and focus on the future.

The Florida and Vandy games mean absolutely nothing now that we are out of playoff contention. So we can either get a start on next year and checking off the QB question dilemma or we can just roll the dice and hope that 2 years of offseason spring practices are enough to get a couple of RS freshman QB’s ready to play for Tennessee.

Losing the last two games will not help Heupel or the program’s trajectory. Aguilar is our best chance to win.

I have enjoyed Joey this season. He has sparked the offense & throws a great deep ball. Half his interceptions are not on him (receivers not catching good passes, a receiver slipping & falling). Unpopular opinion but I thought he played well last night. The two picks & the fumble were all due to insane pressure in his face ALL night.
I hate we lost. With better kicking, and a catch from the freshman TE, we would've won against UGA & likely last night. I imagine people would be singing a different tune if we won those games that frankly we should have.
Still enough season to root for. Beating Florida in the swamp & Vandy will help.
Go Vols!!

The Florida and Vandy games absolutely mean something, and Heupel will find out just how much they mean if he loses them.

the towel has already been thrown in for him.

there's literally no practical difference if we finish 9-3 or 7-5. we play the same games and get an irrelevant bowl game either way.

he needs to be shrewd and think of the future.

Once again, nothing says "I will give my all for Tennessee" like a coach giving up on the season and looking to next year before playing one of your biggest rivals.

Give it up. You want Heupel to just blow off the rest of the season to develop a kid who may or may not (A TOTALLY UNPROVEN COLLEGE QB) be next years QB at a Top 25 school?

You ACTUALLY think that's the best coaching move to make? I'm actually laughing out loud at you.

Heupel losing them with Aguilar will make his seat very warm early in 2026. Heupel losing them with QB’s who are the future of the offense will make his seat less warm going into 2026.

Going 8-4/9-3 this year doesn’t outweigh solving the dilemma of who the starter is gonna be in 2026 and going 7-5/8-4
