I'd play George MacIntyre

Oh..... so you don't have countless examples that you just said you have. You're spouting BS and just got called on it and suddenly say "They aren't there" after insisting they're countless.

You're a loudmouth fraud. BS spouting without backup.

Yes. There are countless examples in professional sports which what college is now of that happening. You’re asking for an example for something that’s happened in the one calendar year we’ve been in this new era.

You’re a sheep. Like I said, you will be among those crying and moaning in 2026 if things start shaky because we trot a green QB with no experience. We’ve seen this story before

Nice try to crawfish back but you're full of it and full of yourself and your "ball knowledge."

By the time a QB is an NFL pro, they may be a rookie there but they've usually had multiple years of intense football behind them. I'll grant the occasional (and sad) Dwayne Haskins who had about 13 or 14 games at the college level then went pro....... and it was tragic on the field and off.

Your eyes are likely brown...... and not because of genetics.

I'm not sure what the locker room dynamics are, but JA seems to be well liked and has played way above my expectations this season. Bench him and you're showing the team you've given up on the season. Then be prepared to see us get blown out by vandy and fla.

2/3 of the locker room are underclassmen. I’m sure they will take issue with Heupel deciding to play for the future and play younger guys. Makes sense.

Nothing says "I will give my all for Tennessee" like your coach saying "Screw it. This season is over so let's just prepare for next year."

We will just have to agree to disagree. I'm not willing to get embarrassed by two rivals to get a few reps for who may or may not start in 2026. But apparently you are.

George Mac will be on the roster next year. Merklinger is the wild card. Regardless, if the plan is to have a QB room of Faizon, Merk, and Mac, I want them to have as much meaningful reps as possible before game 1.

For Faizon that isn’t possible. For Merk and Mac, it is. And since our final 4 games, counting the bowl, are merely meaningless exhibition games, I’d rather get them experience than start a guy who won’t be here next year.

Heupel’s seat will get toasty if the those are our 3 quarterbacks and they play shaky in 2026. Especially considering there was ample opportunity to get them significant playing time in a lost season that could have given Heupel a very clear picture if he has a dude or he needs to go portal shopping.

Simple question - does anyone still brag about our 2023 season in which we finished 8-4? Because I never hear anyone talking about how great that season and 8-4 record was. Almost seems as if the season was a dud for some reason.

I get the logic of this, I really do. But as a Vol fan, I'm not always logical. I will in no way throw in the towel and bend over for vandy and fla. If you're a Vol fan I don't see how you could either.

Why does no one ever talk about Merk being starter next season. Why do coaches not give their backup more playing time in games like Kentucky, if you don’t play the some then you’ve always got an inexperienced QB.

Because this new era of professional college athletics has sucked the joy and pride out of what made college football great: tradition

Now it’s a business.

Because Merk is widely believed to transfer out this offseason. Which I don’t know why he’s getting 7 figures to ride the bench if Heupel isn’t gonna at least see if he has any potential to be a starter here long term.

Just lighting money on fire.

Throw G-Mac into a game before he's ready vs FL in the Swamp and see his confidence get shattered AND see the fan base next year say "Remember the crap G-Mac was last year at FL and against Vandy? The guy was terrible. Heupel is going to roll that guy out there again? This is JG all over again. G-Mac SUCKED last year and yet Heupel is going to keep riding with him."

This is the most likely scenario if G-Mac starts. As we've seen here in the last 24hrs AND thru Nico's growing pains, the UT fan base isn't an "it's okay, he's doing the best he can right now. He'll get better" kind of fan base.

You're delusional. You'll call for his head in 4 games.

Sir (or Mam) you must not follow Tennessee or you are just a casual fan because your ignorance is overwhelming.

We have 3 weeks before the Florida game.
We have a bye week this week.
We have New Mexico State in 2 weeks.
We play Florida in 3 weeks.

It’s sad that you think Josh Heupel isn’t capable of getting a QB ready to play on the road with 3 weeks of practice and a game against a 3 win C-USA team.

Fazion Brandon isn’t going to be a regular true freshman. Adidas isn’t paying him to ride the bench, it will be another Bryce Underwood/Michigan situation

What does it matter whom plays back there? It doesn't matter when an offensive lineman won't move his feet to stay in front of a defensive rusher and they just watch them go straight to the quarterback. The defense is still going to be in the face of the quarterback shutting the passing game down.
