'25 Recruiting Forum: Official Tennessee versus Oklahoma Pre-game/Game Thread

Perhaps that’s it. Even the announcer tonight noted how the home field advantage wasn’t there anymore in the 4th in a one score game lol. I think our crowd has also been quick to lose energy when even one play goes against us sometimes.
Like some of these posters who are out. 4th quarter was quiet. Only real loud at beginning

If you're a 4* tight end, it's not unreasonable to expect him to catch a pass any of us could easily catch. I prefer to go to your proven playmaker, but it's not a bad call to scheme a freshman wide open for the easiest catch ever.

I have much much bigger problems with abandoning the pass short and medium pass game that worked so well in the first quarter.
It wasn’t close to being an easy catch.
The pressure caused a quick throw and by the time he turned around the ball was in his face.
And if you don’t understand nerves and the pressure of the situation has on anyone that hasn’t had any on him then you’ve never played anything so you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Kitzelman and Davis make the catch, Maybe. Not guaranteed though because it was not even close to being as easy as your making it out to be.

I’ve wondered if it goes back to pricing out the younger crowd and their families. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that’s it, I’ve just been wondering. My old flabby a$$ has sat all over that stadium over the years and even during the crap years. Many times, I couldn’t talk or hear after a game for days. Something is off this year.
This is true and I don’t understand it. Starts loud but becomes less and less as game settles.

But it wasn’t and cost us the playoffs. Would have been genius to not run a bunch set against Bama that led to a pick six too. Those were coaches calls
You think that one play costs us the playoffs? Been way more plays all year and even in that game that caused that. Should be never even come down to that one play in that game.

Just leave. You are the soft one who bales when adversity hits. Don’t need your basillio loving drama
I think everyone is just frustrated. This team doesn’t look well coached and does so many things that leave you stratching your head. Then turn around and have drives of beauty and you see their potential. I think it’s gotten to a point where everyone knows what a Heupels team looks like and we want him to take the next step so we all win. Heupel is so close to being dominant and needs some changes to get there. That’s the frustrating part. I’m glad we have Danny as I believe he will have hard conversations with Josh. Heupel is passive and needs an alpha some times to help work through things. Danny wants championships and I have full faith he will get them.

Oh I agree. It’s a bunch of things. But saying those calls in particular were horrid.
Problem I see is execution which is a challenge when you have to replace so many good players with graduation, injuries and portal leaving and shopping. Plus we are pretty young. It was going to be a tough year but I want to see it play out. Got to win 2 of the last 3 and all 3 would make this a great season. We should have made the FG for Georgia game. If we did, we would still be talking playoffs. That is what really hurts.

I agree with this.

What’s not to understand.

The better the team does, the louder the crowd.
Visiting teams want to “take the crowd out of it” by playing really well and put a little doubt in the head of the fans .

UT takes the crowd out by itself by playing like 💩

Disagree on those calls in particular. Ethan Davis was having a game and Jack never gets thrown too. Have Davis run that route.

And against Bama everyone knew you had to throw. Go throw the ball with everyone split out. Or just run it. It is what it is.

And we should have beat UGA for sure. We have to get a kicker. He is costing us.

This team was never a title contender or close to being one. But they absolutely could have made the playoffs this year with seeing how everyone else is. But this was always right at a nine win team. And if they meet that, then it’s right in line. I’m afraid they won’t and drop the last two and that would be a terrible look for us.

Execution is part of the problem, but I think the red flags with Heupel are a bigger problem. 3 straight runs after a massive turnover. Clock management that makes Les Miles look smart. The coaching staff has a lot to work on themselves.

Now these are criticisms I can get on board with.

We’ve been bad at taking advantage after turnovers this year. Can’t always be execution from players. Gotta make better calls.

Clock management is so confounding at times. Just hire a guy to tell you when to do things lol.

If you’re the intended target you are ready to catch that ball the moment you release. That play is on JVD, and whatever coach didn’t tell him to be ready for the ball.

I’ve been unimpressed with Halzle since Golesh left and I’m ready for Heupel to find a new pawn to run his offense.

Who calls the offense? Is it Heupel or Halzle? I’m ready to blame halzle for how bad we’ve looked the past two seasons and get rid of him.

We ran 2 plays in a minute with the game on the line down 2 scores. Then the coach didn't know the clock wouldn't stop when his QB ran OB.

Dont even get me started on the drive before half against Bama before the pick 6.

Yep, and a guy that’s been in games catching passes all year is a lot more likely to be ready to catch the ball.
