Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

We made the playoffs last year. We won a NY6 bowl in 2022. We have money to spend and will keep doing it. The athletic department isn’t a for-profit organization, so they will spend the big money they bring in.

We went 15 years spending it going 5-7- lol.
I’m old enough to remember when making a bowl game felt like a break-through, we couldn’t reliably keep it within 30 points of ranked teams and people said they would never complain about 8-4/9-3 again.

Short memories.

Happy Sunday. Lol maybe a fitting message after yesterday.

November 2, 2025: For those who seem to be discombobulated, take this time to rest and regroup. The adjustments that you have to make for this season will soon become part of your daily routine. Be good to yourself and kind to others as well. Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you
this is going to be a very hard week. the 'R' word doesnt seem to be getting used a lot. But it feels recession-y, very strange economy. Pray for all those out there, lots of changes, layoffs, etc.

Rushing offense last night.

35 carries for 63 yards.. I'm not a College graduate but I know that's totally unacceptable.. less than 2 yards per carry..good grief.
Oline was manhandled last night, Joey was seeing ghosts from the hits and there were few holes for the running backs. The dline did not have the success you would have expected going against 2 freshman tackles either... just s poor overall performance from both lines of scrimmage

now this is a legit gripe

although we played the number 1 dline in cfb, for tfls. Let's stop pretending we played NMSU.

You're being way too rational this morning Enki. Catching up this morning before I go to church and I realize that if you are Heupel and have someone approach you about an opportunity you have to at least listen to reset your clock. Fans have lost their minds and have unreasonable expectations. Expecting us to qualify for the playoffs every year is fantasy land. Look at the teams in the SEC that have equal or better resources. Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma and Auburn. The traditional bottom feeders also have more resources than they ever have. I didn't even put in Ole Miss and they are spending like crazy in the portal. It's just not reasonable to expect Tennessee to be in the playoffs every year. The real question is, if you decide to replace Heupel can you realistically expect to hire a better coach and I would suggest that the answer is NO. This place is toxic and could go off the rails if we lose another game or two. Also, our schedule is much harder next year with the extra SEC game and breaking in a very young quarterback. I hope we opt for stability and don't join in the circus of searching for super coach, as we have tried that strategy and it wasn't fun. Off to church and more important things in life.
UT’s record is in line with my expectations going into the season, so you’d think there is no reason to be disappointed. But, how they got there is important. There was no reason to think the D would be this bad; that’s the disappointing part and it’s made worse by a surprisingly good offence.

Seems like a lot of posters are out on Heupel or think the team won’t get any better. Ok, say Heupel were to bolt this season for another job.

Who realistically would come to Tennessee?
You and every other poster that post this BS should f in leave and never come back,
Go find you a loser team to go along with the loser attitude.
Yall act like we are Kentucky or Vandy or Miss st.
Coaching at UT would be an upgrade for about 90% of the coaches in CFB.

Yeah it wasnt what it should of been with crappy AD’s we had prior to DW but it is now and was before.

Which year over the last five hasn’t been a rebuilding year? Moving forward over the next three years, which one is not a rebuilding year?

26 is a rebuild, 27 you lose a bunch of d-line talent and probably CG. So 28?

the thing is, next year when that 9th sec game is added, it will be hard to come out of the sec without 2/3 losses, I want better but I sure don’t want to walk aimlessly season after season 5-7, 7-6 or even 4-8, we can’t forget where we were

We’re regressing and it shows on the field. We feasted on a down SEC. Other teams are waking up and making moves. We are not. We’re trending down honestly. No way this team beats the gators in Gainesville. 8-4 is best case.

This was supposed to be a “down” year
