The republicans have said we won't compromise on getting 100% of what we want and we'll shutdown the government to do it. Do you expect democrats to not exercise what little negotiating power they have to achieve their goals?Every single republican has voted for a CSR. Hard to blame them if you are honest and not being partisan. Especially since this was the Chuck governed way until now. Kind of gross. You are smarter than this. Be less partisan

Make no mistake that the republicans have the ability to compromise here to open the government, but they won't do it. If you dont see this then you are blinded by partisanship. Don't act like republicans are blameless in the shutdown.
this is also true. The DEMOCRATs have said we won't compromise on getting 100% of what we want and we'll shutdown the government to do it. Do you expect REPUBLICANS to not exercise what little negotiating power they have to achieve their goals?

I'm fairly centrist in my views and see this political theater for what it is. This impasse has a lot of blame to go around. If DEMOCRATs really wanted the government open here they could compromise even a little bit.
The CR that passed the House is the same CR that was approved by both the House and Senate previously. No changes. The dems are voting against it now to shut down the government.this is also true.
the issue is that neither side is willing to compromise.
The Rs are offering to open things up now, as they were before, based on what passed previously. they aren't making any changes in their CR.
the Ds are holding up the government so they can pass new things. none of the items they want added to the CR directly impact the ability of the government to operate.
This is my understanding as well. The CR is the same one passed last time. And now it is a problem. That sounds very partisan to me.The CR that passed the House is the same CR that was approved by both the House and Senate previously. No changes. The dems are voting against it now to shut down the government.

It’s gonna be a thrill a minute.@hog88
you have always talked about that Americans won't revolt as long as they can get their beer and internet. if the food goes, we could see things actually get "interesting".
I hope someone caves before then, because food riots will be worse than any fuel shortages or TP issues we have dealt with.
Republicans are in charge. The shutdown is 100% theirs. They have zero adult leadership. This is a grift to try and get Trump's numbers close to 40% approval so he can brag about it "skyrocketing". Millions impacted by not getting paid, food welfare, veterans care, etc, aren't blaming dims. This is all ammo for the midterms. Republicans are not thinking the long game at all. The full blown TDS meltdown next year is going to be impressive. The Rs have offered negotiations after the CR is passed. It's the Dems acting like petulant children and shutting down the government.

My goodness. You may be the poster child for the ones that think the people who are in DC live in a bubble.Republicans are in charge. The shutdown is 100% theirs. They have zero adult leadership.
