Finally, here's hoping that last fella is right, and our DLine are enough on defense to keep Mateer disrupted so that our loose back end doesn't give us away too badly.

Let’s be honest here. Oklahoma is a top-ten all-time program with great tradition. Many of their championships came in the Big Seven/Eight when it was every bit as good as the SEC. I think everyone knows an SEC that has expanded three times since 1992 is not comparable to the parity across leagues that used to exist. No need to be smug.

Let's be even more honest here. The Big Eight, which included giants like Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Colorado, Mizzou, and Oklahoma State, was just as much a "two big boys and a lot of midgets" league as the B12 later. It's just the two big boys there included Nebraska rather than Texas.

I'll grant that there was a day when the SEC wasn't the most powerful conference in the nation. Back when the B10 had a middle tier that counted for something. Back when Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State, and even Purdue were every bit as tough as, say, Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, and Florida. Before the B10 got diluted by the likes of Rutgers, Maryland, and so on.

But that was never the Big 8, or the Big 12. Oklahoma has always had a "win this one big challenge, and walk the rest of the way to a very good season" kind of schedule.

I don't mean to be smug. I'm just pointing out that Oklahoma and Texas have no reason to be smug, either. Crowing about an ungodly number of conference championships while playing in a conference where wins were no harder to come by than the low shelf of prizes at the county fair ... that's smug.

Our defense just needs to string 3 good plays together every once in a while.We have got a sack on 1st down and given up a 1st on second and long a lot.

Green is what Mateer was supposed to be. That guy on the right team would win a natty.
We made just enough plays against Green to win. I expect the same for Mateer.

Colton Hood being out is the last thing we need. Wish we could bench boo but we don’t have any depth at that position

OU just got carved up by a very potent offense on their home turf. They are going on the road against a better offense. The notion that OU just has to show up to win is absurd. Mateer is injured and stunting his rehab by playing and is averaging 190 since he surgery. But sure, lets be scared.

Not scared at all. Just being realistic. I know we can score at least 40 on OU. If the worst team in the SEC can score 34 on us, then what can we expect from Oklahoma? If we can get off the field on third down, then I like our chances. This one seems to set up as a shootout given what we’ve seen already

Their offense would have to play REALLY badly not to score in the 30's... easily. Their defense will do enough to slow our offense down. We don't play very well against better defenses and OU has a very good defense. Let's just keep it realistic. I'm not sure what everyone else is seeing, besides playing in Neyland, that gives UT such an advantage in this game. That's why I don't gamble. We can't TACKLE for God's sake!!

Long way for them to travel. Let's reach out and invite as many as we can into a tailgate and then beat the crap out of their team on the field. Best message for them to take back. "Class of SEC off the field and man their team just took it to us. "
