The min Kiffin gets $12-14M from LSU or Miss, Kirby, Day will get a similar bump. I could see the same for Heup.Me fighting off VT to try and steal Heupel…

you'd be mistaken. oklahoma or florida would gobble him up in a minuteWith so many big openings, it’s reasonable to consider someone may come after Heupel
However, has he done enough at Tennessee to warrant you paying $50M+ to fire your current coach to get him?
Not so sure
If he had his current Tennessee record at Miss State - maybe. But Tennessee is a major program.
I’ve enjoyed the Heupel era and think we still have big things ahead. But not sure the big names will want to poach him.
I just got through pointing out earlier how absurd the idea Brian Kelly would negotiate his buyout was. Looks like I'm not the only one. Tom Mars with a funny quip.
LSU, UF, Penn State, [insert current vacancy here], would 100% take him if they could. I guarantee he’s on all their lists of people to potentially call/look at. I imagine we see Heupel get a bit of a pay bump by season’s end. With so many big openings, it’s reasonable to consider someone may come after Heupel

I don't know what you saw on Napier, but the way his buyout was structured he got 10 mil up front and the other 11 mil paid out over however many years he was signed for. I forget how many it was.We have seen this now multiple times. UF just did it with Billy Napier. I have never understood it. How can you negotiate a buyout? Why would any coach agree to it? Unless I could show mathematically that I would come out financially better by altering the amounts or terms/structure of the payout, there’s no way I would agree to be paid less.
Sam Pittman met Arkansas in the middle. But not every coach is Sam Pittman either. I think he got a raw deal in the end from Arkansas. They set him up to take the fall and to install Petrino. Right now they are busy making all the other options appear unattractive to Arkansas fans.So is this something that normally happens and we just never hear about it? I guess I’m confused as to why BK would even consider that? I’d laugh in their faces as I tell them who to make the check out to.
Yeah except those terms are typically going to be mostly dictated by the original contract I would think. I’m curious how much reworking of the terms there could actually be. Plus, whatever the fired coach would want is probably the opposite of what the booster funding the buyout would want.I think it’s like the lottery. Do u want $800,000 per month or are you willing to take less than the full buyout for a payment right now.
The $800,000 would be mitigated if he found another job. The flat sum agreed upon would stay.

Bring me all the Florida board posts! Heck, start a whole thread! Just tell me what forum you post it in.I just want to illustrate where the temperature of the Florida fan base is right now: on their 247 board someone posted simply, "James Franklin will be next head coach at Florida," and he's been downvoted 16 times.
Lol. James Franklin is built for big time college football. That goober knows how to be a CEO of a major college football program.I just want to illustrate where the temperature of the Florida fan base is right now: on their 247 board someone posted simply, "James Franklin will be next head coach at Florida," and he's been downvoted 16 times.
You know, I'm not Tim Banks, but I figure Josh Heupel and he both have to ask themselves if there is any reason to change the formula that was successful last year?I can’t believe they haven’t thought about this yet honestly. Can they not understand they have a ton of youth, and the kids might do better if their coach is on the sidelines face to face with them all game? They should have been able to look at the film and realize that is when our defense was best all year.
