Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

You can definitely make the argument that Penn St is a better job. We know it's an easier job playing in the B12.

I do think UF is the best job in the state of Florida though. We seen how good they can be with the right coach. Just hope they keep pissing down their leg with their HC hires.

Would you rather have Florida resources and coach in the weak ass ACC or the bloodbath SEC? I think I know the answer many coaches would have.

A Monday post-game reflection: that Vol's offensive output Saturday evening was something to behold.
Stoops is an idiot. It was mind blowing that Kentucky said we will stop the run and let your receivers have one on one coverage all night. And the receivers just absolutely owned them.

Lol. You kept saying DL is super young. And I named 9 that play and are older. It’s ok to be wrong.

Yeah, to be fair though I think some folks say "young" when they mean inexperienced.

DL has quite a few older guys

Hobbs - JR
Weathersby - RS SO
Eason - RS SR
Wallace - RS JR
West - SR
Moi - SR
Bailey - RS SR

Robinson - RS SO

That's not counting the EDGE guys who are really OLBs we just call DL for whatever reason. In bold though are the only ones that really saw a ton of snaps prior to this season.

Not at all. I think it was genius. In fact, any OU analysts out there. Id do that, we reaally struggle versus one on one.

Maybe. Or maybe diminishing return and a failed marriage actually has matured him to the point that he's telling the truth. There's a reason he and Layla are getting along better these days.
i dun thought a that. if yens been around chur for last week er two you'd seent that Ive a been saying that, moran.

Defense may not look better Saturday night, just be prepared for it.

What I think happened at Kentucky and is likely the plan moving forward is "keep scoring and make their offense have to pass"

We make teams 1 dimensional where the DL can focus on pass rushing and we'll see a lot more sacks/turnovers. May still have 30+ and 400 yards hung on us, but no one cares if you're winning 56-34.

At this point the only other SEC team we haven't faced already that is good enough on both sides of the ball to challenge that philosophy is Texas A&M and we won't see them unless some crazy ish happens and we meet in Atlanta.
Unlike a lot of people I see it differently. I do not believe it is primarily a personnel or execution issue, it is more of a defensive philosophy. The idea is that you keep the ball in front of you and make the offense make many plays to score. Each play the offense makes an opportunity for the defense for a negative or a turnover. Defense in football now is more and more about Takeaways and TFLs than yards, both lead to scores . The bottom line and the only stat that matters is the final score.

We are gonna need some insider help and info about Colton Hood. This is bad getting worse if he can’t go this week. Any glimmer of a chance McCoy can all of a sudden be a go this week? @Stoerner Fumbles @peaygolf @SmyrnaATLVolisback @MetalVolunteer anyone else with contacts???
Hood is hurt and questionable. Will be evaluated today. McCoy has tried to work his way in every week since Arky, and will try every week. He has to be cleared for contact. Every week so far he's had swelling. Today is a new day in a new week. We'll see.
