I'm not trying to fear monger. my question is what does the predictor say is the %chance of making the playoffs for Bama, Georgia, TAMU, and Ole Miss if they went out.

so if Tennessee has. 90% chace but they all have a higher chance does that predictor say that it's guaranteed that 5 SEC teams get in?

I think the predictor isnt using bias in saying that if Tennessee wins out, that means wins over ranked Ou and Vandy.

In that equation, 10-2 Tennessee per the resume would trump a 10-2 Notre Dame. I think that’s what we have to worry about.

If we beat OU, I like our chances. There’s perhaps a chance McCoy comes back late in the year
I said before the season started that McCoy wasn’t going to play this year. He has no reason to especially now with 4 games left. He’s a first round draft pick so why would he come back.

Everyone said I was crazy and that he had to come back to become a high draft pick. It seems I was correct.

I don’t think we are a playoff caliber team. Our defense just absolutely sucks. The only thing that matters to me is that CJH fires Banks and Martinez as soon as season is over if not before. Those two have got to be gone. Both are extremely way over paid. Go Vols.

What has OU done to impress anyone. Where are their wins and look at how few of points they have scored against SEC teams. Same with Vandy. Vandy looks good but I don’t think they can stop our O and they are not a scoring juggernaut are they?
Yeah, really, we beat them last year coming from behind with Nico.

That’s dumb. He’ll be the #1 next year.
Lulz, I just left a thread where you said "thats dumb." I guess if you dont agree with something its dumb.

Speaking of dumb, I wish the "we're not making the playoffs" crowd would start a "We're not making the playoffs" thread. And live in it. Lol.

At the beginning of the season, most predicted us to be 8-4 or 9-3 with losses to Georgia and Alabama. That happened.

The other potential losses were to either Oklahoma or Florida, or both. I think we beat Oklahoma at home and we also beat Vandy - also thankfully at home.

The only remaining game that I think that we have a shot at losing is Florida. That is based on our history of losing to them, despite them having inferior teams to us and it’s at Florida.

If we get past Florida, we will be 10-2 and we will get into the playoffs. That would be an amazing job by this team. Especially how it started with all of the offseason drama at QB.

yes, I guess my point is that if Tennessee has a 90% but Bama, Georgia, TAMU and Ole Miss have 99% chance if they win out then the predictor is saying that the SEC is for a fact getting 5 teams in. that seems like more of a subjective thing than a predictive thing. they cannot account for the idea that allowing 5 SEC teams in while the B10 only gets 3 and the ACC 2 and the B12 1 would be deemed "not fair". the predictor does not account for the human element of the selection committee

Their defense is tip top
Ole Miss didn't have too much problem scoring at OkL. Scored 34 points on their home field and Ole Miss average this year is 37. You have to look at who Okl has played vs points scored. I agree they have better than average defense though. Especially with pressure on qb. We better have some quick route passes ready.

so I checked the predictor and this is what it says the %chance of each team if they win out.

Bama 100%
TAMU 100%
Georgia >99%
Ole Miss >99%
Tennessee 90%

so while Tennessee CURRENTLY has a 90% chance you have to assume they let 5 SEC teams in.

BTW the predictor says that if both GT and UV win out and go to the ACCCG, they are both >99% of making the playoff.

the predictor doesn't seem to like Miami or ND. it currently says Miami only has 60% chance if they win out and ND only has a 43% chance if they win out. so they basically don't think ND is going at all.

Are you really discrediting Vandy just because they’re Vandy? Their body of work and collection of wins are head & shoulders above ours. They also have a stout defense - and if you haven’t been paying attention, we don’t. Wouldn’t surprise me if we’re an underdog in that game.

Alot has to play out. If Vandy is 10 1 coming into Knoxville that win will be enough to push UT in the playoffs with UT losses to Bama and UGA. Assuming Bama and UGA win out they both will be top 5 teams. UT just has to keep winning. If UT can just win at UF for the 1st time since 2003, I believe UT will win out. Way too much football left.
About time a win over Vandy finally means something.

That’s the combined conference record of our three SEC wins. I doubt 10-2 gets us in the playoff unless the SEC gets five teams. We’re going to need a lot of help outside the conference for that to happen.
Remember when everyone on here was saying this season was a guaranteed 7-5/ 8-4? I remember. I remember all of your previous expectations. You don't get to welch on them because the team is outperforming some of them now

speaking for myself my expectations of Tennessee has changed but it has less to do with Tennessee and more to do with their opponents.

before the season I thought that Arkansas, Kentucky and Florida would be MUCH harder games to win because I thought those teams were far better than they actual turned out to be (two fired coaches and one who SHOULD be fired).

back then I thought 10-2 was a dream but now 10-2 is not only realistic but it would be a failure if we don't do it.

as The Dude would say, new information has come to light. I'm not apologizing for that.
