There’s no way anyone on this board should be excusing the defense lol. UK has scored more than 14 one time in SEC play. They hang 34 on us. Just excusing giving up 34 is so mediocre and pathetic. Everyone should be happy about the win but saying they aren’t as bad as people are letting on is just wrong. They are every bit as bad as they look. Just watch how they play the fundamentals and the elementary stuff they have no idea where they should be most of the time. Half of the time we don’t even know the down and distance.

Yeah they're freshmen, dude. They're out of position sometimes. It happens. They miss tackles sometimes. It happens. Could we have kept the starters in for 50-60 minutes and held them to 14-17? Probably. Is that the smart thing to do when we have a huge game coming up next week? No. The game was never in doubt. Get the young guys out there, get them game reps, figure out who does what well and who struggles with what. when they make mistakes, talk about it in the film room, and figure out what needs to change.

It takes time and experience for the game to slow down for these guys. Perlotte looked amazing tonight at times. Against Alabama he missed out on an easy fumble recovery because he wasn't situationally aware. Tonight he dove on the ball. It's a rebuilding year. There's going to be mistakes. Love the team for who they are and forgive them for who they aren't. And they aren't an experienced defense.

It was obvious to me as far back as last years UGA game. Got worked by Mike freakin Bobo and Carson Beck. Yeah the defense was good last year. Got by on talent and experience at safety (will brooks). Banks just doesn’t know what he’s doing. Once I saw Gunner freaking Stockton and Mike Bobo yet again work him inside Neyland, I knew dude was trash. Got roasted for it. I get wanting to be positive, but we’re undefeated with just an average DC right now. Yes even with the same injures. We don’t lack talent, they’re just coached like garbage lol

There’s no excusing some of our defensive issues. Bad missed tackles for sure. But this was a blowout all the way, and they coached and played like it. It sucks to watch 95 yard drives, but that actually burns the clock. We were scoring every minute or two. I really wish McCoy would come back

Im almost convinced that our offense is playing a major role in how our defense plays under heupel. When are offenses is scoring quickly and moving fast our defense is atrocious. When we slow our offense down like we did under Nico and run the ball more our offense is magically much better. I think there is a correlation.
