The Official Tennessee Baseball Skipper Search Thread

I don’t wanna lose Josh and Frank, I really don’t wanna lose Frank, pitching is huge in this conference.
If someone from the outside is hired they usually bring their own staff or hire their staff... Holdovers are very rare... I agree though Frank is the one we need to keep definitely..

Believe Elander leaves if a outside guy is hired..

I mean, DW could have taken it upon himself to interview Elander on Wednesday and not even done a coaching search if he liked what he saw in the interview. Seeing as that didnt happen i think the writing is on the wall.

I know, this isn’t a normal hire. They didn’t get fired for sucking. We know pitchers come to this place for Frank and many of them have options. If DW decides to clean house I really hope he knows what he’s doing.

While true, I think Elander is more like Kirby Smart.

Not saying I endorse the following controversial view, but I have a buddy who follows the team closely who believes that Elander has played a larger role in our success than most people think (clearly he's played a role, that's not the controversial part), but my friend in fact believes that TV could sometimes get in the way of things. Again, I have a really hard time believing that, but just throwing it out there from someone who is friendly with multiple people in the program.

Furthermore, if you want to get Godwin, tie Josh and Frank to the deal and let them have the option…DW DID say…we’ll take care of them…maybe that solution would suffice, but we have the #1 class in the nation, all of this is really risky.

I don’t think most people realize how integral he’s been to our success.

This doesn’t seem far fetched at all to me.

And in that one year he made the CWS finals.

Y’all are weird with this Elander or bust thing.

This would be a very good hire if it happens.

I don’t think it’s weird. We have an elite roster, elite recruiting classes, and elite support staff on campus right now. If you clean house, it’s likely that recruiting classes is pillaged and we lose Frank and Elander. Hiring Elander is probably the safest way to keep this train rolling.

I get it, but prior to LSU, Jay Johnson’s entire resume consisted of the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada. He’s doing pretty well in the southeast.

Arizona, California, Nevada are not the midwest. Those are baseball hot beds. The Oregon and Kansas guy are primarily midwest. Totally different.
