I’m not sure how I feel about it. I live just south of Myrtle Beach and go to a lot of CCU games. He’s rough around the edges - and not in the good way Tony is. He gets defensive a lot - at least it seems that way to me.Per Cainer, the Coastal coach (Kevin Schnall) is a target... you know, the guy who just finished runner up in the CWS? If it's not Elander, I could get behind that hire
I’d still be surprised if he seriously considers leaving. CCU is his alma mater and it just feels very very hard to pull someone from their alma mater, especially after one year and a CWS appearance. I know it’s a mid major but stillPer Cainer, the Coastal coach (Kevin Schnall) is a target... you know, the guy who just finished runner up in the CWS? I get it, but prior to LSU, Jay Johnson’s entire resume consisted of the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada. He’s doing pretty well in the southeast.Vaughn is the only acceptable candidates out of that group of alleged names.
The Kansas and Oregon guys have minimal experience in the southeast--mostly midwest guys.
He’s also been a HC for 1 year at a well oiled machine. He’d inherit the same well oiled machine here but he’s not proven long term he can maintain something and I don’t want to be the Guinea pig that finds out.I’m not sure how I feel about it. He’s also a CCU lifer, so it would be interesting to see if he’d walk away from his dream job for the challenge. Our guy did, so he may as well. But he’s been at Coastal a long time…
As someone who visits this forum more casually than others I have a question. As a fanbase I understand the thought that Elendar makes a natural fit to step into the lead role. He's an elite recruiter and has excelled in all roles to date with a track record to back it up. Seems like a similar trajectory as TV or other younger head coaches like Vaughn at Bama, etc.
My question however is, while I've seen his name mentioned as an up and coming candidate for openings the last several cycles, I can't actually remember him interviewing anywhere. I think South Carolina listed him as a candidate, but didn't actually interview him because they wanted someone with HC experience.
Has Josh actually interviewed anywhere that we're aware of? If not, is it because he was seen as TV successor all along?
Appreciate any insight the regulars might have to offer.
Did his time at UCF overlap DW?I’m not sure how I feel about it. I live just south of Myrtle Beach and go to a lot of CCU games. He’s rough around the edges - and not in the good way Tony is. He gets defensive a lot - at least it seems that way to me.

Probably so. Those 6 weeks are cold as crap out there. My kid played MS/HS on the Cumberland Plateau. Never saw a game in 6 years without a coat and a blanket. Knoxville can't be much different.Every student section at baseball stadiums in the SEC are in the outfield. Another thing, I go to a lot of Tennessee baseball takes. About half the fans anrrnt even paying attention to the game. It’s just a social event for people. The stadium is half empty for the first 6 weeks of the season.
