That doesn’t make any sense to me.But they did, through attrition, injury, and draft. This years offense; is last years secondary.
I like making Elander earn it via interview. It's clearly in high demand.I was referencing the names already being thrown around by reporters publicly. It’s a great list so far
Sounds like we’re going to seek out one of the best names in college baseball on top of interviewing in house
I’m sad about Tony but optimistic our AD continues to make great hires. It’s going to be tough going from the goat TN baseball coach to whatever is next but I think we are in good hands
I'm sure he didn't force him out. I gather he didn't really try hard to keep him.I heard nothing that gave a sense of why, only that "it didn't have to happen". Right. Tony chose to leave, DW didn't force him out.
Pure speculation, but my guess is that Tony made requests/demands that DW could have accommodated but chose not to. Not sure who you can/should blame for that.
That doesn’t make any sense to me.
Offense lost:
Starting QB
4 starting OL
All SEC RB
2 of 3 starting WRs
Defense lost:
3 starting DL
1 starting DB
DL had a ton of players that played last year returning though. And our starting corners are injured but we replaced one with a first rounder.
Really no excuse for how bad they are. I could understand dropping from top five to top 25, but not top 90.
I think a big reason for the offense is a change in philosophy and the coaches took it personal. I don’t think banks has ever self assessed or changed his defense.
I'm not trashing DW. I do think he could have gotten him to stay if he wanted to. I think he was ok if he stayed and was ok if he left. People tend to like to work for people that want them.I like @InVOLuntary and @Jimmy Football, but this would be my response, too. I would also add that Tony's program didn't stand alone as it was part of a greater athletic department. Sometimes, you have to be a team player with other sports. Whatever resources Tony did have, he was killing it. But people always want more.
I was happy to see Tony's statement- made me feel better about the situation.
Jalen awfulDefense lost more than just those 4 and we play 2 deep more on that side so depth pieces are big losses.
Will Brooks - graduated
Jermod McCoy - injury in spring
James Pearce Jr. - drafted
Jalen Smith - transfer
Rickey Gibson - injury after 1 game
Keenan Pili - graduated
Christian Charles - transfer
Kalib Perry - transfer
Omari Thomas - drafted
Jackobe Thomas - transfer
Christian Harrison - transfer
Omarr Norman-Lott - drafted
Those were all guys that played last season a ton and racked up plenty of stats for us.
I agree. I said it would be like Peyton staying for his senior year, I didn't say TV should have stayed. Just if he did it would be on the Peyton staying level decision and the reaction would have been similar. People do not make those kind of choices very often.Well the Deacon just shut down a bunch of rumors. I believe the man. Tony just couldn't turn down a shot at the bigs . Seen where someone said he could have waited like Peyton , no Peyton would have been drafted the next year no matter what. This may have been Tony's only chance at the bigs.
Jalen awful
Pili always injured
Charles average at best. Injured all the time
Perry awful
Thomas can’t defend the pass
Yes, we lost a good bit on D line. But we still kept Joseph’s, West, Bailey, Moi, Hobbs, Ross, Herring, and others. Not like we don’t have talent.
