Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

There's a lot of people on here who have invested far less than TV questioning his VFL status. I don't care what happens from here on out Tony Vitello gave his all for Tennessee and I will hold him in the highest esteem along with all the other Tennessee greats. He brought swagger back and we were damn lucky to have him.
Yeah, reading his statement changed my mind. Yesterday I posted that to me he’s a VFL up until the point he comes back to CBB with another school. Now I’m gonna always consider him VFL no matter what. Pretty sure Saban never talked like that about LSU.

Tony probably believes what he said, but he and some of the fans are delusional at the moment. He won't be on the sideline and he won't be an employee at UT ever again. And he's definitely not AD material. The time is over. Whatever happened, happened. It really sucks, but you're either a Vol or you're not and he's not anymore.
Lol
Tony V can come Back anytime He wants

He can coach here agin if he wants

You can’t know this. Especially when people Chris Low have publicly said things like, “this didn’t have to happen.”

Now, I think it is likely that he would have taken the job no matter what. That seems rational to me. That’s why it’s so jarring to hear people like Kendall Rogers, Chris Burke, and Chris Low hint around that there might have been more to it. But frankly, I’ve made my peace with it. Time to move forward.

What’s still bothering me, though, is that several posters that I think are normally good posters are pretending like InVol, myself, and others are just making s**t up for drama. It’s dishonest and disappointing. I’ll get over it, though. It is what it is.

I completely appreciate what you’re saying, understand this point of view.

But I’m skeptical of anyone other than Danny or Tony speaking about their relationship. With that in mind the only thing I believe to be true for certain now is the two didn’t communicate on a regular basis. And to be honest I think that’s being blown out of proportion a bit. I doubt Fulmer as AD spoke to half the coaches on campus more than a handful of times.

Any of you Morans ever been to a football game at UK? TickPick has tix for $59 all in.
It's actually probably a pretty good place to see a game. . . if you take a full-body warmer. . . it really may not be too cold tomorrow night though. Definitely worth $60 to see the Vols play live.

Stand by my statement 100%. If y’all want to pretend Chris Low just spouts nonsense for clicks, go for it. Personally, I just can’t lie to myself about it.
It's not nonsense, but it's not the whole story either.

And the actual truth is Chris Low and Kendall Rogers know a small percentage of the whole story, so they can only guess as to whether this "had to happen" or not.

I don't think any college coach would turn down the chance to make history by going straight to the top of a professional team and having success there, even if everything were completely perfect at their school.

We need a blow out win in the worst way.
Yes and no

Some of Our louder fans need to quit being Debbie downers and psychos
They have chosen that regardless of any situation
There acting like Tony basilio

Tony V went to the MLB
He made history and I hope he me wins big but if not I hope he can come back here and anyone acting like he can’t is delusional

When I left my city job to go to the state, it tore me up. Hardest change I’ve ever made. I loved my team and sobbed when I had to tell them I was leaving.

Tony’s statement brought back those same feelings. He feels adopted by us, sees us as family, and it comforts me knowing he’s leaving but not saying goodbye.

It’s much more than that. And honestly DW needs to get ahead of it. I know some who aren’t loud but very involved in the program. They can go to any game and be in the field. They are not happy and are very close to Tony. I’m not going to say what I’ve been told, but he should still be our coach.

yes....its only about a 4 hr drive and its one of the SEC stadiums I should probably knock off my list. I just have never felt like the gameday experience at UK would be worth it.........at $60 might be the cheapest tix I get all year.

InVol, they’re just not interested. They’d rather just brand us as conspiracists.

It’s disappointing, but it is what it is.
It doesn't have anything to do with being a conspiracy theorist nut. It's all about what is to be gained by continually trashing our AD based on speculation of why Tony left. There is probably some truth in the rumors that Danny and Tony weren't best buddies but you simply can't ignore the fact that Tony was given elite resources in relation to his competition to compete at the highest level. That is a fact that can't be disputed. So what are you trying to accomplish by continuing to beat the drum that Tony left because Danny is a meanie! The only logical explanation is you have an axe to grind with our AD for some reason. Seems like all the others coaches on campus love the guy and are thrilled he's their boss. Have you also taken a step back and considered that all the sources you keep quoting are getting their information from Tony's camp? Is it possible they have a little bias? Can you fathom that many situations have a little nuance? I'm sure there is some blame on both sides but at what point do you just say, maybe spreading rumor and speculation isn't great for the University I Love? It's just frustrating to have "fans" assume the worst and just run with any bit of controversy they can think of for some unknown reason. Rant over.

Saban and TV are completely different people. Saban has always been about Saban. I remember the AD at Mich St. saying, "What does he want, I have given him everything he asked for and he's still not happy." Every place for Saban was a stepping stone until the Peter Principle kicked in and he was smart enough to understand his place.
Saban never loved or enjoyed anything, he was about hating to lose and intimidation. You never hear former players talking about Saban the way TV's players talk about him. TV loves the game and I really think he loves Tennessee.
Simple fact is, TV was made an offer he couldn't refuse.

Been several times and it's actually a pretty good game day experience. Nothing like Neyland but still worth a trip. Plus I've only seen us win at Kroger because they are Kentucky.

The thing is I feel like even if some media folks or VFLs do know a big portion of the whole story they have one side of it, and their personal relationships to Tony or Danny are also skewing their opinion of the story.

It’s human nature so no fault, but something I always keep in mind.

For example the statement, “it could have been avoided” if that’s coming from Tony’s side how do we know the other side, Danny felt the same way?

But…but…but he hates this place because of DW! How could he want to come back?!

This reads pretty clear cut to me: he wanted to be in the MLB, this was an offer her couldn’t turn down, so he made the decision to go for it. I can’t fault him for it.

Good luck to him, now let’s move on. And Hell who knows, if stuff doesn’t work out for him and we’re looking in 3 years, who’s to say he can’t come back.
You just said he made his decision and he needs to go away and never come back. I know there is sh!t all over the walls and floor at your house, just throw the crap and see what sticks. There is no hope for you, your worse than a Bammer.

This is where I say DW keeps his job unless football and men’s / women’s bball fails
He does t care about the other sports and honestly shouldn’t

The days of being an everything school are fading in the mirror

Those close to Tony need to see that also

Go listen to c-lows interview on the Sports Animal yesterday.
I heard nothing that gave a sense of why, only that "it didn't have to happen". Right. Tony chose to leave, DW didn't force him out.

Pure speculation, but my guess is that Tony made requests/demands that DW could have accommodated but chose not to. Not sure who you can/should blame for that.
