There has been one major change that has occurred over the last two decades that TV took advantage of and the new HC will as well if DW gets the hire right. High school, community college, and amateur league baseball in TN and the immediate region. Our state has developed into a literal hotbed for talented baseball players. The old expression of locking down the state means something here now like it did when Fulmer was ruling the living rooms and kitchens for football players in his day. Fulmer would then cherry pick needed talent in other areas through feeders who backed the BO.

We are at that same point in baseball. That is one more reason why I believe Josh Elander should be our HC. He is the recruiting master who wins in the living rooms and kitchens that knows the game inside and out having played in the minors for years. He is who the players and families go to and trust. The national brand has been built thanks to Tony. The program is not broke. Frank is still there mentoring Kirby. Josh is ready and just needs to hire or promote his hitting coach/recruiting coordinator.

The other minor factor is umpires. Josh will not go ballistic often on them. He will just talk truth to them. Now that the program is proven elite I think they will be more responsive with him instead of adversarial.

I am not saying DW should not hire a proven, elite HC other than Josh, but he better be very sure the guy is a step up with the right BO attitude or he will lose the fanbase that supports that big LNS investment. Again, it is not broken, it just need attention.

On 104.5 this morning Hubb spoke very highly of TV and said TV was very emotional when he met with reporters after the announcement. Said he gave the statement to 4-5 reporters that primarily reported on vol baseball at the same time because of his relationship with them. Didn’t hear the entire segment but based on this and TV’s statement, my perception of him has changed in that he is a VFL.


Brent D (104.5 3HL show) said TV was in Nashville yesterday

If White goes another direction...then I hope whoever he hires has the right mojo to pick up where Tony left it. I know Tony ain't the only great head baseball coach in the college game....so just gotta go find that dude if he's not already on the team.

Average cost of incarceration is between $70-100K per. That annualized figure looks like somewhere between a B and a T, dollars to tax payers a year.

Moving in the opposite direction. Revenue from only LEGAL sales of marijuana, is expected to be in 100's of billions by end of 2030, I think. Just in terms of balancing the books, and removing a burden on State's and Municipalities, legalization would be easy.

So, you see there is a ballad excuse for us executing the 'lay prostrate' defense.

Seriously, i'm glad there is only one porthole.

Have a feeling we are going to see lots of movement to overhaul this defense. I bet lots will leave, and some not voluntarily. And we'll be spending some coin.

If this staff thinks it can find a safety in bargain bin aisle, it will find itself right back in same spot. Have to go find a starter.

I agree but I think it goes deeper than that with TV. Not only did he win, embodied Tennessee. At a time when there wasn't a lot of good things happening, he came out of nowhere and reminded us that we were Tennessee. I think he had a much larger effect than just baseball.
I sit where the recruits, coaches, and people with field passes go on to the field. Everyone, fans, recruits, current and former players, they all flocked to TV. He was a rockstar. TV will always be Tennessee in my book.

I highly doubt that he ever will again. We'd have to hire a coach, he have a terrible run, fire him. Then have Tony jobless or wanting to come back to college again after a major league season ending in September or October. Chances are well below 0.5%.

I actually think he will go into a TV role with MLB or ESPN if he leaves coaching.
