Sure, I’d guess all that played a part.Is it so hard to believe that he wanted to make history? He's the first to jump from college to the pros in coaching. He's got a CWS championship under his belt, is it hard to believe the temptation to chase a MLB WS championship is there? There are only 30 MLB teams. This is a unique situation. It's not like he was lured away by another college. MLB is the pinnacle of baseball.
Not if we just fire whoever we hire as soon as TV is available again...You left off: “…compete against Tony Vitello until at least Year 3.”
TV will be back in college sports quicker than we think and he’ll probably end up at somehole like Bama or Arkansas, begin a dynasty, and retire with 3-4 WCS rings and basically be the next Nick Saban of college baseball. WWE couldn’t write this script any better.
we lost super seniors and our best players to the draft guys. in his defense we only had 6 years to recruit other guys to replace them.“Just give Banks more time to get his players in”
Hang in there….I have a felling everything is going to be fine. The thing is, I love the game of baseball, it was my first sports love...the insane and stupid unfairness of the MLB financial system ruined that for me, but thanks to Tony building us into a powerful and super fun baseball program, that love was getting rekindled...Tony made CBB matter to me.
I hope it doesn't come crashing down now, but I just don't have much hope that we will continue to be an elite baseball program. Imo it has not been built long and strong enough to have the kind of foundation which can withstand this.
Names are fun. Are we being at all arrogant with some of the names?
CBB is a different animal than CFB, but we’ve gotten some good chuckles out of other fanbases “moving down” their boards![]()
I think you are anguishing over things that are normal. Success leads to bigger opportunities. Tennessee hired Johnny Majors because he won a Natty at Pitt and I'm sure the Pitt people felt betrayed, he is their greatest coach of all time. TV was the king CBB and a Tennessee hero and it is normal for that to gain the attention of people. He has been offered an awesome opportunity and it is normal that he took it.The way Kiffin left absolutely screwed us badly, and was the biggest reason we were tormented in CFB hell for a decade.
Fulmer was finished, he was not going to rebuild the program...and yes Hamilton absolutely was an idiot and also needed firing, and no Kiffin shouldn't have been hired...all that being said, if that crazy run of weird freaky events had not happened, he would have at least brought some talent in before he was ultimately fired and left a better situation for whoever got the job after him.
All that being said... Tennessee as a whole from the University leadership all the way to the bottom was a rotten structure that needed to be absolutely demolished before real progress could start to happen again...I just wish we didn't have to be so humiliated for so long to do it.
The truth is...it is hard to be a Vol and has been for a long time. I just wish all the breaks would go our way for a while and crazywould stop happening for a while.
UT baseball was not Sh!t all the years before TV we had some good teams and great players and coaches, the Delmonico years were great and he is a Tennessee legend. The difference is that not many people paid attention to CBB like they do now. TV had the great fortune of coaching good teams when the general public awakened to CBB and became less enthralled with the MLB. ESPN is as responsible as anyone for the popularity of CBB and TV, people can watch CBB on TV now without going to the actual games and more than friends, family, and fanatics are watching.Hope so...we sure as hell NEVER were worth ain baseball before Tony. If they hire the right guy, then yeah....we could be fine, if they don't it will not be fine at all....it will suck donkey ***.
I'm not stupid...I know Tony ain't the only coach that could do a great job and put great teams on the field, but you better sure as hell find that other guy that can, or it will fall apart really quick and we will go back to being a totally irrelevant CBB doormat again.
very very relevantPrayers for anyone who feels alone. You aren't.
October 24, 2025: When you seem to hit a roadblock, go back to the last place where you knew what to do, and begin again. This is a temporary condition and is fixable. So do not panic. Stay calm and seek help if you need to. The Lord will show you the way of breaking through. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
I hope that our first coin we spend in regards to the defense is getting a new defensive coordinator. There’s absolutely zero excuse for not changing what in the world you’re doing that keeps causing you to fail. This is the definition of insanity. Newsflash… Dropping your DBs 15 yards deep ain’t working.we lost super seniors and our best players to the draft guys. in his defense we only had 6 years to recruit other guys to replace them.
no other teams has to deal with that!
also, as DC, it isnt up to him to recruit safeties. That's on the safeties coach!
So, you see there is a ballad excuse for us executing the 'lay prostrate' defense.
Seriously, i'm glad there is only one porthole.
Have a feeling we are going to see lots of movement to overhaul this defense. I bet lots will leave, and some not voluntarily. And we'll be spending some coin.
If this staff thinks it can find a safety in bargain bin aisle, it will find itself right back in same spot. Have to go find a starter.
