Open enrollment increases for 2026

This says the continuing the subsidies alone (not UHC) would cost $30B/yr for 24 million....

According to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan think tank that focuses on fiscal policy, continuing the expanded credits could cost upwards of $30 billion annually. Findings by KFF, a healthcare policy group, say that over 90% of the 24 million Obamacare enrollees make use of the enhanced credits.

Everybody's got a price....

Yes!! Yes!! Yes !!
And I’m pretty sure that after 65, @McDad can use his HSA funds on anything he desires - from liposuction, to pedicures, to blow-up sheep.

He would simply owe tax on any non-medical withdrawals. Which would essentially function to convert his HSA funds into the equivalent of Traditional IRA funds.

Mo' math from this example that renowned socialist Eats with A Comb Kobachar loves

Without subsidies $1700/mo
With subsidies $442/mo
Difference $1258/mo x 12 = $15,096/yr

The Galls are among roughly 22 million ACA marketplace enrollees — about 92% of all enrollees — who face the prospect of higher premiums in 2026,

$15k x 22 mil = $332 Billion

Not even close to $1,600*.

*I assume you weren't AD then

Right. 10 years active but retired from the reserves. I’m now in the “grey area” which means not much for benefits until I turn 60, which is another 21 years away…

So now we are shopping our employer health plans.
