Don't say that in the baseball forum. Anything less than TV needing a statue is blasphemy to some. Appreciate what he did for us, but he's gone now and I don't particularly care what comes of his career. You're either a Vol or you're not.

No, that's not true. The revenue sharing is mandated. What isn't mandated is other spending you could take away from women's bball.

Now, Tony was keeping tabs on how Arkansas was taking the equivalent money from the women's basketball program and funneling it into Baseball.

Which fans? The ones that hired a dozen football coaches who flopped elsewhere?

No, sometimes the fans are lucky. Elander may well become a great coach and DW may end up hiring him, but suggesting that the collective fandom has even a fraction of a clue as to who would be the best coach to replace Tony is a bit of a stretch.

His name got thrown around bc he was the best coach in college baseball.

What does he flirted with A&M mean? Exactly what communication took place between himself and A&M?

As for what causes him to sniff around - it was a MLB team offering him a MLB managerial gig.

Elander is Only a great candidate in house if he gets hired and wins
if he loses fans will be pissed at Danny also and bitch
This fanbase is never happy and luckily our AD doesn’t give a **** about what the armchair talent evaluators, coaching evaluators and revenue gurus on here or twitter think

Sure and sometimes ADs are lucky. If you're trying to argue with me IDK where we go from here. I watched ADs hire ****** football coaches that constantly flopped here as well. And basketball coaches and baseball coaches.

The Kendall Rogers report of A&M courting him the past two years. Also, I recall heavy rumors about him with the LSU job. I don't think all that was one-sided.

I see what your saying but you gotta pay the sports that profit or have the best chance to profit
Also the Lady Vols brand is huge and Kim will have them winning champs again
Baseball being good was a luxury and cost money whereas football you assumes makes money, men’s is above water and lady Vols bball is what our school is known for outside of football
Baseball is probably 5th or farther down the line in the grand scheme of things as far as notoriety goes until the last few years

I am not arguing that ADs in the broadest sense are good at their job. I've been a Tennessee fan for a long time. Obviously I know better than that.

I'm saying that *we* have an AD who has an extremely good track record with coaching hires. If he chooses not to hire the fan favorite, I have to assume he has a good reason.

Well yea every hire is judged on their ability to win. Kinda the entire point. Prior to Barnes, Heup, and TV it's not like our ADs were doing any better than a random fan with the hiring decisions 😂

So they courted him for 2 years and couldn’t get it done? Doesn’t seem like he really entertained it then does it?

And LSU, the best baseball job in the country couldn’t hire him away? Hmm.. what does that tell you?

Tells me he was happy here but not happy enough to squash it. You can't just assume Tony was fully innocent in these offers.

Some of Our fans did one thing good on schiano Sunday and are now twitter assholes that think they have power
What they don’t understand is Danny’s job depends on if he wins and in all honesty his job really only depends on football and men’s and women’s bball
Baseball won a championship and doesn’t really matter if the hire is bad
Those top 3 win and he’s the AD as long as he wants to be

Hope it’s Elander. Hope he can hold the classes.

But I’m not “happy for” Tony Vitello - he just ditched us in late October.

I’m certainly not gonna wish him “good luck” 😂
