Schools after the settlement are really locking down their players from entering the portal.
What is a great source to go read about how schools are adapting to the new rules? How are they locking down? How much control do they have over NIL? I think I've seen where high school players are signing NIL deals directly with companies. If so, how does that affect recruiting?

This article gives excellent explanation of NIL.

How are universities adapting to nil rules

Universities are adapting to NIL rules by implementing new policies and procedures to manage the financial compensation of student-athletes. Here are some key changes they are making:

The way schools are locking down on key players is making sure they have a distribution of NIL money and opportunities that make them wary of looking elsewhere. Schools now have total control over NIl distribution.

Yes high school players are signing NIL deals our own recruit Big O has a deal with Adidas. So does Kaleena Smith a player were trying to commit for 2027. Many of the top athletes in high school already have deals. High School player NIL deals probably only affects recruiting if the NIL deal they have is directing them to a particular school. Otherwise would probably have no effect it would just be a deal they have to add to how much more they could get from the school.

I cant believe Kim is letting yhe #1 player in the state just walk without even recruiting her. Regardless of what position she is projected too play, not one person in the state or AAU in four season's has been able to lock her down. Bradley has won multiple state titles in the states highest classification for a reason, yet we take a cross state rival over her. Kimora has outplayed her in every single match up for years.

Wish her luck. She is a great player. Not a great fit for the system we run. It is what it is.

I love it when we get Tennessee kids to be Lady Vols, too, and I am confident the staff would probably love it if every elite player in the country were a kid from Tennessee. If they could land a whole roster full of in-state players who fit their system and passed all the academic and personality measures it would be infinitely less time consuming and less expensive if they never had to leave the state to get players like that.

So I have to believe that the #1 player in the state had to have been assessed as being not a strong fit for some reason(s). Granted, even the best coaching staffs often make huge mistakes in recruiting, and maybe our staff will eventually find out they made a mistake with this one. But more often than not, a staff isn't going to pass on their state's #1 player without good reason.

Now that UConn has added Olivia Vulcosa, it seems logical (hopefully) the door got a little wider for either Crittendon or Okeke coming here.....At least I hope so.

Crittendon is an extremely fine player that possess all the shots to be fabulous....She's good from the 3 point line, the elbow, or on the blocks....The girl can score.

Sara Okeke is just plain awesome and very fast...Most film I have seen of her is her in close offensive game, and her dynamic inside defensive mastery....She owns the paint...

Bri....

Sara...

We need to get one of Crittendon or Okeke and we'll be awesome in recruiting this year. Okeke is a fabulous player would be top five in the country if an American player. Teaming her with Edwards would give us an inside game second to none they are college game ready players right now. We will have to beat UConn to get her is the way it seems to be shaping out. Just 21 days left until signing day which starts the 12th and ends the 19th of November. After that is is all the way until February.

If we get neither were needing two post players out of the portal. Of course we don't know who will be in there so it is tough to rely on there being some great players enter. Schools after the settlement are really locking down their players from entering the portal.
UConn only has two scholarships left, and they're after Okeke, Jerzy Robinson, and Addison Bjorn...maybe Robinson and Bjorn commit, and Okeke has to look elsewhere (i.e. here!).

Robinson is supposed to be visiting SC this weekend I think or it may have been the past weekend. Love to have Okeke post is the spaces were trying to fill for 2026

What does UConn getting a commit have to do with widening the door for Tennessee with Crittendon?
The international player hasn’t went on any visits from what I’ve heard so we don’t know for sure what her plans are.
But I also don’t see how who will commit to Tennessee is affected by who does or does not commit with UConn, other than the rumor of both teams having interest in the international player.

TN commit Oliviyah Edwards No. 2
UConn commit No. 3

How often do we get new uniforms? It as we have been have the same ones for the last 5 years. Perhaps it could help with recruiting cause most plays want the up to date unis and look good on the court.

It is really difficult to know what to expect in terms of Okeke, as last I heard was that she was still considering playing in a European pro league as well as her 4 top colleges. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't announce till the Spring given no visits, no inside scoop about her decision, and that she may not feel the same pressure with the commitment timetable as the American players do.
