Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Keep believing that if that's what you want. You are sort of making my point for me.
Uhhhh....not at all. If that's what you got out if it. My point was pretty clear, and now Low reports that he got more money for a pro job.

Suggesting that he was upset by not getting resources when he takes a pro job that is literally middle of the pack in spending is non-sensical. Not even worth discussion.

I'll be honest, I appreciate that DW handles it like a business which it is.

You should have a full blown interview process, if Elander wants the job he will go through the process like everyone else. And he revealed that he doesn't talk to Tony on a regular basis. Seems that DW acts kind of like a CEO dealing more with the admin at the university and the big time donors as well as local government. He mentioned that Tyler Johnson (Senior Associate Athletics Director of Administration) works more directly with the coaches for each sport.

Not this time of year and there are no elite programs that are currently open. I suspect he wanted out and this is a place holder until one of the big jobs becomes available.
🙄

Yes, let me take a job at the highest level of competition to act as a placeholder for a job on a lower level.

Do you think before you type, or do you just let your fingers fall as they might?

I understand there's a overreaction by the fans ( baseball fans) .. let me just say if CJH left for another job this forum would be playing the blame game just as the Baseball Forum is right now..

“Over reaction” is a stretch.he won our first EVER natty in a sport that was dead for over a decade.who’s on the hot board right now that you think could keep the momentum going outside of MAYBE (shot in the dark) the coaching tree?…nobody.

my only issue with Tony is the timing of it all which tells me this was a sudden spontaneous decision …DW on the other hand is on the chop block for me. say what you want about that but he didn’t make the best career decision for himself or the athletics department at the fan’s expense.how is he going to explain those ticket prices now?👀

we were feared amongst the sec and other conferences because of Tony.every school wanted him and with how he left he will never be back here ever again like Bruce.so while it’s being downplayed in the moment like it’s no big deal just remember this conversation down the road….HELLO! Dark days…we meet again!😭🤣🤣

I assume the phone goes both ways. I just think it's silly to assume that DW is the *cause* of the friction. Everyone seems sure that Tony is blameless, DW caused it, and DW didn't fix it. It seems unlikely to me that fault is purely on one side or the other.
I never said any of those things. I understand others have, but that's not the point I made. I said if true, it represented a DW error. I also never suggested DW bore total fault. I know nothing, but suspect they both deserve to be "slapped upside their heads" over their behavior that got us to this point. But the question was whether DW had erred yet.

And certainly communication is a two-way street, but as a boss the responsibility level is different. That's why I cited DW.

He was apparently flirting with others last year. Doesn't sound like this is a new thing.
Absolutely he was, kinda goes to my point. I'm not dumping on DW. I've said it that you have two big egos that conflicted. I dont think Tony thought DW was all in. I think Basilio was right in that while DW may have not ran him off, he was not all that upset if he would have left. That is evidenced by CLOW's claim that they've not even spoken in months. He'll get his chance to get his guy. This isn't TN football, baseball can easily slip back into oblivion. I'm glad I'm not making the hire.

Unless DW was already aware that it was broken beyond repair. The context of most fan DW opinions was that he messed this up recently, but we may have just been in garbage time and the game was over 6 months ago.

Come on. Use that brain of yours. The odds of him succeeding more than 3-4 years are very low. He knows he can pop right back in the college game and pretty much pick where he wants to go. This isn't rocket surgery.
