Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I just don't understand that mindset. When it comes to recruiting in every sport, you will lose players. Other schools may have different priorities for certain players.

Being 90% in is subjective. Because of his success, we started dumping a bunch more money into the program.

The Dodgers will outspend the Giants, so he is back the same position.
Giants are literally middle of the road in spending. He's going from top echelon of resources where you get most players you want but not all, to middle of the road and competing with teams that spend a LOT more.

Not exactly what I was arguing but too long to discuss. You are always going to get uneven support at schools with NIL now. See Texas Tech now.

Bottom line is that TV is going to a place with less resources than a team in his own division.
Padres and Dbacks have higher payrolls as well. So 4th highest amount of resources in a 5 team division.

Yep, I don't keep up with MLB as much as I used to. This is why the argument of him not getting resources doesn't quite make sense to me. Maybe, but combine that with this being the highest level of the sport gets him there. He's won a title in college, and he's looking for more, knowing that he can always fall back.

Imo, Tony Vitello is right up there with Robert Neyland and Pat Summitt, as the greatest coaches the University of Tennessee have ever had. Phillip Fulmer, Rick Barnes, and Johnny Majors are on my next level, well below...Rod Delmonico right there with them. Nothing against those 4, they were/are great great, and I love and appreciate the hell out of them; but, along with Neyland and Summitt, Tony...it's been said a million times about a million people, but this time it's the absolute truth, we never really will see another like him.

He's A LOT like Pat...A LOT like her. In MANY ways. Always have thought so. Despite the obvious (friendly...humble (many want to believe Tony is not humble, it's the biggest bunch of bullsh!t in the world...TV is VERY humble, if you pay attention to him and understand what he's saying)...fiery...charismatic...great coach in-game and on the practice field...players would lay waste for them...many ways); and, like her, he's been somewhat of a pioneer.

While I don't think he has meant nowhere near as much to college baseball as Pat did to girl's basketball, girl's sports overall, and college basketball as a whole...this 5-year BOOM of college baseball has been spearheaded by one man, way out front, all alone, Tony V. He is the greatest thing to happen to college baseball in my lifetime; and, I'd say that just as a fan of college baseball. The only ones that won't admit it are haters, plain and simple. They all can eat sh!t. LSU knows it, no matter how many JJ has won. The best college baseball program in the history of the sport came calling, and Tony said... No. NEVER forget that, no matter what's been said, or what will be said.

I wish him nothing but the best...NOTHING but the best.

It's been a pleasure, #22...thank you so very very much.

It might. Or he might be as good as he and everyone else thinks he is and he does well at the pro level.
It's possible. I don't see it because honestly I think the role of a MLB manager is one of the least impactful coaching positions in all of sports. You go where your horses get you, and he's gonna have mid tier horses.
