Danny Dimes thinks he’s above everyone. He can’t stand that Tony Vols is thought of so highly and the fact he didn’t hire him. If Barnes wins a natty same thing will happen. I’d get rid of DW before I’d let Tony Vols leave.
He is above everyone as the AD. I think Tony has received everything he has ask for and he would agree. From listening to Tony in interviews he seems to dislike the state of college athletics where recruits come in with their hand out asking what the pay is. I think he sees that as a huge issue because college baseball is not a revenue generating sport. Its become a question of how much you are willing to lose to have a top 5 baseball team.

It's called Return on Investment. Tony's program doesn't produce revenue. Lady Vols bring in many times the cash that Tony's bats do. DW is putting money where it should go.
Are you sure about that? Baseball generated $9.6M in revenue last year vs $3.9M for LVs. Baseball was 4.1% of overall revenue while LV Basketball was 1.7%. Football was 63.6% and basketball was 11.7%.

You also have to account for how much investment it took to receive that revenue. Coaches salary players tuition and support. I'm sure there's a way to clear this up. Most important part would be earnings for each individual player . Also the amount of work and time each player has to invest to be part of each team.

LV Basketball lost $7M vs baseball losing $3.7M last year. Rosters are 15 and 35 respectively.

I don't trust any college's books when it comes to sports, and I have a hard time believing that a well-attended SEC baseball team is truly losing money, especially considering the future of TV rights and the exploding popularity of college baseball.

Wow 7- 3.7 is large. Guess we understand a little better about Tony playing anyone he can get to play in his house. That's got to be a big savings on travel and accommodations. Just hope he stays....
Also explains why CTV and Sexton are likely fighting for a larger portion of of Rev share bucket. I’m sure they want to be 3rd not 4th. Or, at least tied for 3rd.

How much bonded debt is there on LNS compared to TBA? Surely TBA has been paid off for years.

With a huge caveat I rarely watch the Lady Vols, they play in a facility with far more seats. There’s more of an opportunity to increase revenue with a basketball program with more seats to fill then there is with the baseball program.

I think this is point upon which the deal turned. LNS hard revenue is close to being at max while TBA is basically an un tapped well.

Danny White has single handedly made UT games unaffordable for the vast majority of Tennessee fans just trying to take their family to a game or two each season. He has completely commercialized UT athletics. Yes, he has done some great things at UT, but at what cost of the ordinary person............
Welcome to college sports, it is all about the money .

But that is the status quo for the SEC not just UT. Title IX requirements may come into play here as far as revenue sharing
I’m just about damn sure that relates to scholarships and not NIL allocation, especially if you consider how NIL allegedly works

No one with any logic or common sense would think baseball should received the same funding as football. Now, desiring the same or more than LV Basketball is a reasonable request.
What are the respective revenue numbers of the two sports?

Edit: nevermind. I see your post above. Thanks.

The DOJ ruled that revenue share is NOT subject to Title IX requirements. In other words, colleges can allocate revenue share as they desire. Of course, this will likely be contested by a lawsuit.

Agree 100%. And in no universe should baseball receive similar funding as football. The roster sizes are different, the equipment costs are different and the revenues are significantly different.
Baseball players play 5x as many games. They should get more. Screw football. It’s a scam.

I am not at all surprised the baseball program lost money last heat, or any other year. It was well known that the football program was supporting all the other sports program except , maybe basketball. In addition, before NIL. Football contributed 6-8 million back to the state. I do not know if that has changed, but assume it has.

The revenues say otherwise. But carry on in your world.
Football is a scam. In 5 years, all the tickets will be owned by corporations and millionaires. Watch. The stadium will shrink, and with more and more luxury seating options the regular fans will be priced out. Enjoy.
