Lmao. Only Danny White is thinking like this.Yea, something needs to happen today. It’s getting to the point where, imo, its becoming unfair to the players and also Elander, Frank, Q, etc.
lol ok now it makes sense why you said the dodgers spending needs to be controlled. As a lifelong giants fan growing up in the Bay Area and proud vol alum I’m truly conflicted … I feel the only way my giants have an honest chance is the owners opening their checkbooks like the dodgers… but at the same time I hate rooting against Tony possibly landing a dream job .. though it would hurt losing him from UT …how many of us would give anything to get to have a job on the sidelines of a professional sports org .. I know I would .. it’s a crap situation either way for me![]()
Stop being selfish. Tony staying is best for all of us.As a lifelong giants fan growing up in the Bay Area and proud vol alum I’m truly conflicted … I feel the only way my giants have an honest chance is the owners opening their checkbooks like the dodgers… but at the same time I hate rooting against Tony possibly landing a dream job .. though it would hurt losing him from UT …how many of us would give anything to get to have a job on the sidelines of a professional sports org .. Yep. And consider everything, including the many and loud SF fans who don’t like the idea and will be ready to pounce at first sign of any issues. He will be going from the longest rope ever to a short one.If Tony wants to be a coach he will remain at TN. If Tony wants to be a manager he will take the Giants job. JMO.
the longer it drags out, the likelier it seems to me that he doesn't go to SF. That's just been my experience with coaching searches and recruiting. If you think someone is locked up but the announcement gets delayed, it generally falls through. I mean, at some point the Giants will have to move on.I guess I have to say I’m impressed that no information has leaked out in 5 days on the behind the scenes discussions going on with Tony. No one seems to know how he’s leaning or what is holding things up. You would think the longer it drags on the more likely information is to leak out, but it hasn’t.
Yeah, a really short leash. I don't think he'll last long on the pros. Just given that he's never been as a player or coach, and he didn't 'climb the ladder', it'll be hard for him to command the clubhouse. Not to discount him a as a coach or manager, just a completely different world than the college ranks.Yep. And consider everything, including the many and loud SF fans who don’t like the idea and will be ready to pounce at first sign of any issues. To me this likely would turn into a Saban or Spurrier attempt at pro where their skill sets and style while developing young players isn’t as effective with grown, developed, millionaires with set in habits formed the last decade under other coaches. People always talk about coaches in college getting “their guys”. Vitello has done thi, like the other coaches mentioned. He won’t get “his guys” in mlb and his player interactions greatly decreased.
