Thank God Napier, Mullen & Franklin

At least Mullen beat Georgia and got to an SEC championship game. Those are things that Josh needs to do to take the next step.
McElwain got to two SEC championship games. Does that make him twice as good as Mullen?

He was Saban compared to Dooley. He has left Florida a great roster unlike Dooley who left practically nothing.
True...Florida just needs a good caoch and they'll be 10-2 or better next year...meanwhile, I remember Dooley winning recruiting battles against Southern Miss, Memphis, South Florida, etc...

Gregory Schiano sure as hell said yes.
And I was one of the ones saying to go all in on second year APSU coach Will Healy.
Oooof......

I really wonder how he would have done if he had stayed at The Peay a couple more years and gotten a better job than Charlotte................

Charlotte was NOT the move LOL

*edit. It'll be interesting to see what he can do at ETSU. Hopefully horribly, but...

Same. I had forgotten about him honestly until a friend mentioned him the other day. He might have been considered for one of these openings by now.

Meh, Franklin and Napier I agree with.

I honestly think Mullen is a good coach and would have done well in Knoxville.

Currie dragged his feet and Florida moved on from Kelly.
The way I remember that was that Mullen was putting Currie off hoping the Florida job was offered to him, and it was. I can't say my memory is totally dependable but I don't remember it being on Currie. Our job was just less-attractive at the time. It isn't today.

Mike Leach RIP, was en route to Knoxville until Fulmer stopped it.

That would have been a great era. He had MSU rolling.

For some reason, I thought Currie was basically all in on Schiano and was putting Mullen off

Currie had gone to I think -the Bahamas-that weekend for the basketball tip off thinking he had Schiano in the bag and Mullen holding just in case.

Mullen was announced by UF fairly early on that Sunday morning I think and then Schiano about noon or 1.

Once the fanbase revolted re:the Schiano hire, Mullen was already off the table and Currie was screwed.

He failed at Florida. Why would he have succeeded here?

Jeff Brohm is very happy at his alma mater

Vegas thinks Brohm might become a lizard and a thorn in our side.

Florida coach odds:
Lane Kiffin: +200 (bet $10 to win $30 total)
Jeff Brohm: +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total)
James Franklin: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
Eli Drinkwitz: +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total)
Marcus Freeman: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Urban Meyer: +700 (bet $10 to win $80 total)
Jedd Fisch: +800 (bet $10 to win $90 total)
Alex Golesh: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
Brent Key: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)

I cannot express how sad I was when it was reported that Mike Leach had reached a deal with us only for it to get struck down.
Me too. CML would have broken every streak and had the whole SEC fearing the Vols.

CJH may eventually get there, but obviously he has some growing left to do.
