As I stated in the long playoff prediction thread, UT is in at 10-2..period.

If you want to argue they will lose to Oklahoma or Florida or whatever fine...do your Eeyore routine. But 10-2 will put UT in the playoff

100% agree.Getting to 10-2 will be a challenge but it will do the job if they get there imo.

I think 10-2 will do it but it would be better to pick up a win in Atlanta to secure a playoff spot… at this point I want to win the sec more than I want to just get in
Well you can kiss that goodbye with Bama and Georgia having a tiebreaker over us. Bama would have to lose 3 SEC games, and Georgia would have to lose 2. This is disregarding any other teams.

It all depends on what those ahead of us do, imo no guarntee of 10-2 making it in.

10-2 should get it done, but I'm not sure we win out. The SEC will continue to cannibalize itself throughout the season----Ole Miss/Oklahoma, Vandy/Mizz, etc. Someone is picking up a second loss out of those matchups. If it's Oklahoma or Vandy we could give them their 3rd and effectively eliminate both of them if we handle business.

UT has to win out and Mizery and Ole Miss need another loss for UT to make it. It will only be 4 teams so we no longer control our own destiny.

Mizery has a pretty tough row to hold. Need aTm to beat them badly and it would be nice if MSST or Arky give them #3.

Ole Piss is who I'm worried about the most because they have a pretty easy schedule and are a pretty good team.

I agree…we have to win out but we need some others to lose. There are 6 SEC teams ahead of us in the rankings and we play 1 (Vandy). We beat Vandy and win out and we jump Vandy. Both Georgia and Alabama beat us so even with another loss they will stay in front of us. So we need Ole Miss, Missouri and Texas A&M to tank…really just Missouri and Ole Miss cause TAMU is legit.

Yeah in my scenario, Bummer, UGAly, aTm stay ahead and we make #4 if we win out and Mizery and Ole Piss have to lose twice more. I don't see Mizery beating aTm and need them to drop 1 more to fall behind us.

Ole Piss is the wild card there. If they win out or even just lose once more, I think we get left out no matter what.

And unfortunately it’s looking like the ACC will get three teams in this year…Big 10 will get three also and ND is in if they win out…add the Big 12 Champ and the highest ranked group of 6 (USF right now) and there are just 3 slots left…so even if we win out and Ole Miss and Missouri tank, we could still be outside looking in…

We go in ahead of Ole Miss if we are both 10-2. The three most likely games they could lose are @Oklahoma, Florida and @Mississippi State. We would have a win over all three of those teams if we win out. Let's say they lose @Oklahoma this weekend. Their two losses would be to Georgia and Oklahoma while ours would be Georgia and Bama. Their best two wins would be LSU and Tulane while ours would be Oklahoma and Vandy. We play six common opponents with Ole Miss.

The ACC is not getting three teams in. They have one undefeated team(GT) and three 1 loss teams(Miami, Virginia, Louisville). They may get two. If Georgia beats GT, that's at least 1 loss for all four. GT has not beaten anyone of any significance and would need to win the ACCCG to make it if they lose to UGA. Virginia lost to NC State and their only good win is Louisville. I think they also need to win the ACCCG. Louisville has the win over Miami but lost to Virginia. Miami is the most likely to make it as a two loss team. If all four finish 11-1, GT and Virginia would play in the ACCCG. They all have games left they could lose, as well.

The biggest roadblock I see is us getting to 10-2. I definitely think we are capable of doing so but it is far from a certainty. At 10-2, we would have a better resume than ND, although we all know the committee will give ND special treatment. I feel like the likely scenario is the BIG 10 gets three(OSU, Oregon, Indiana), The Big 12 gets one(champ), The ACC gets at most two, G5 champ, ND(maybe). That leaves 4 to 6 SEC teams depending on how everyone finishes. I don't think the SEC has more than five teams finish with 2 losses or less, quite possibly only four.

If SMU, GT, and UVA win out, then SMU beats GT in championship game, UVA and GT will each have 1 loss and SMU will be in as champ. ACC will have 3 teams in, GT will have to beat UGA which isn't likely. ACC could have 3,2 or just 1. Every week is a playoff game for both the SEC and the ACC here on out.

Crazy to think that at 10-2 UT will be out, but there is a good possibility of it happening. UVA and GT have super soft schedules and neither play Miami or SMU unless it will be championship game.
Yea, too many folks seem blind to the ACC sneaking in a third team…but it’s hard to imagine an 11-1 Miami not being in the field if 12…but an 11-1 GT and an 11-1 Virginia meeting in the ACCCG pretty much guarantees both those teams are in…but I guess a 10-2 Tennessee team gets in over an 11-1 Miami because we would have a wins over 8-4 Oklahoma and 8-4 Vanderbilt…
