Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

It’s a life altering decision. It’s a good thing for us that he’s so torn
He would be leaving a team and city that he loves to coach at the highest level of his profession. But, he would also almost certainly be taking an effective pay cut, due to California taxes and COL. Plus, there's a very realistic chance that he isn't successful in SF and is out of a job in 2-3 years.

I would actually be MORE surprised if a man like Tony made a quick decision. It's a ton to consider.

As a grown man, I honestly can't imagine this level of nonsense around my professional life. Either you're staying or you're going. Pick one and get it done. Like ****in middle school out here with all the secretive nonsense about what he's going to do/when he's going to announce it/etc.

The level of ego and self serving tendencies in people in positions of power and coaching in sports is insane to me.
No doubt. I love having TV as our coach and really hope he stays, but I sometimes wonder if it's worth all the drama. Are we really wanting to keep going through this every time another job opens up? It's bad enough with other college jobs, now it's MLB too.

He is just being patient with himself. Advice i believe he encourages every recruit to heed.

He’s obviously waffling and today’s fans showing up and chanting his name at a practice is exactly the kind of stuff that likely tugs at his heart strings. As trivial as this sounds, it’s exactly the kind of stuff that makes him love TN….
I get it on a smaller scale, and the way I’ve put it to them is “as much as I love yall, I’d leave for a life changing raise.”

Tony won’t be getting that. It’s purely the prestige of MLB. For me, I wouldn’t do it, but I can’t imagine how hard a decision it is from an unbiased perspective.

Maybe it’s just my personality and fear of change in general but if I was this torn over a career move, I’d just stay put lol
I did this one time in my life. Agonized about making a big decision on a job change and eventually decided to take the new job. It ended up being a bad decision.

From that point, I never started looking into any big job moves unless I was already convinced it was time to go.
