Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

That’s not what was inferred. The post inferred that it was essentially all UT’s fault, and that we create this. Every other school has had great coaches look at other opportunities.
No one is saying that Tony isn’t a commodity. He is, and I’m not surprised he’s being pursued, even if it’s unprecedented. The issue is whether or not there are factors that have created an atmosphere where Tony is open and even inviting interest. More importantly, whether those factors are directly attributable to the Athletic Director. White made a conscious decision with apportioning revenue sharing money away from baseball and toward women’s basketball. That’s a fact. The previous tensions between the two are not new. Do I think Danny flung open the door? No. If Danny White opened that door even an inch, then he he’s made a colossal mistake and needs to go.

I don't think anyone really knows because Tony himself probably does not know yet.

I will say that there's a common expression in business, "Time kills all deals." The longer it goes the better for us keeping him.
Yep, that's like when someone is sick. The longer they live the better chance they have. If they go ahead and die they have no chance.

Sean Sparks (unreliable but has been correct before) on FB is saying the announcement is coming today and we will be happy.

Take it with 20 grains of salt.
This means Tony is going to the Giants 😂

I believe the complete opposite of what Sean Sparks says

How many Tennessee baseball fans do we actually have? I get TV has a major cult of personality but the amount of people just ready to completely jump ship on the whole program is pretty wild. And I completely understand that POV - it’s just wild to me the amount of people ready to give up on baseball
What's most interesting is IF CTV leaves let's see how many TRUE baseball fans we have on this site .... If we don't compete the bandwagon fans will quickly disappear...

I am not a Sparks defender but he has been correct on some things. He likes to post before the story is settled though, so you could very well be correct. He just posts what he hears from whatever sources he has within the donors, but often it is the direction things are heading but not the actual conclusion.

These responses show that you folks do not know what you have in Tony Vitello. You are sadly, clueless. The loss of Tony would be immeasurable.

I’d hate to make this a baseball versus lad’s basketball thing, but some of you seem intent on going that way. No offense, but very few care anymore. The overwhelming number of fans are proud of the history, but have been to fewer Lady Vol games than you can count on one hand. Tony is the only generational coach on that campus (Barnes, arguably a case). Look at the cost of baseball tickets versus lady Vols. I don’t have those figures, but I can just about bet you which ones the harder ticket. That will end the moment Tony walks out the door. What other coach can you say that for?

Looking at this as revenue sport stuff is just missing the point. Tony’s value transcends ticket sales. You literally have the Nick Saban of college baseball on your campus and don’t realize it. Danny White ought to be polishing his cleats.
I mean I personally agree, and I love TV as much or more than any coach we’ve ever had in any sport (yes I’m aware that means placing him on par with Summitt and Neyland), but I’m also not blind to the fact that that’s not the way the world actually works. Would be nice if it was and if money was not a consideration at all in this scenario, but to expect it not to be is at best idealistic and at worst completely irrational and delusional.

Look if TV goes, program would be in great hands with Elander.
I coach HS baseball players, so naturally I talk to them a lot. All of them are enamored with Tennessee, but it's purely because of Vitello. They don't care about anything else concerning our program. Just Tony.

Probably true…but I’ll take optimism from anywhere, at the moment.
Exactly need more positive thinking. All of this blaming everyone is just nuts. Do I believe Tony was somewhat short charged by giving the lady's more revenue sharing probably so. I also think DW thought he could make it up with NIL because Tony is definitely the star of all coaches across the entire collegiate level in all sports.

We've been told around here that he gets info like this from what Basilio is saying and passes it off as his own. Maybe I'm mixing him up with someone else.

Bandwagon fan here. Baseball isn’t interesting enough to ME for me to watch unless we are good and the stakes are high.
