Lord help Heupel if he is only wins eight this year. This fanbase is already starting to get restless from his success and growing tired of some of his antics/deficiencies. They will be in full force and you can tell the pressure is starting to get to him. He doesn’t look as confident.

Oftentimes in these situations, it's whether or not an AD (or whoever) wants to give a ton of concessions to a somewhat unproven commodity in hopes they will having even more success. In CTV though, we know exactly what we have...the best coach in college baseball. I wonder what the "step too far" concession is here for White to make considering what CTV has done and what we will likely continue to do if he stays.

I feel it’s very possibly because of our history with women’s bball that internal optics dictated the need to give a substantial amount of rev share to them. Would also not be surprised if it was made up for through NIL, or at least hope and believe it should be. CTV, please don’t let this become a Freddie freeman story. Make the call and commit to staying where your heart is. This media shite storm has gone on long enough.

No offense to Ramon but it’s just not true. Heupel has adjusted his offense almost every year, we went really slow the last two years. And we are back to some tempo but we still have longer drives and slow it down a good bit. We could get a proven DC. This is a way of saying we will hire from within and say that we couldn’t hire form outside the program.

Gonna go on record and say I love this baseball program, it has become my favorite sport at UT. The thing that's made this work is DW, and all the UT brass. it's never been about one person. Tony had a vision, and leadership was keen on it. everyone made it happen.

Now, in same vein. DW et al, need to realize they have a coach that not only college's covet, but that the pro's covet - ergo everyone covets. Conversely, TV needs to understand no program is bigger than one person. No matter where you are if two folks paddle on same side, you dont go anywhere. In fact, you just go in circles.

Think you have two consummate professionals. Who both want this to work. Realize they love this place, and its easy to see why.

If Tennessee wins 8 games this year and our fans run him off we'll be in coaching purgatory for another 2 decades. And all the fans that were whining will have only themselves to blame. A Billy Napier quality coach will probably come next.

I'm 47 and I feel pretty confident he's the best Tennessee football coach in my lifetime. Fulmer is close but he took over a program that was humming and the SEC was easier back then. CJH took over a dumpster fire of a program and turned it around playing in probably the toughest era in SEC history.

He's not perfect but goodness, people need to back off and let him figure things out. He's earned that.

2025 - run a play every 21.5 seconds (4th in nation)

2024 - 23.8 seconds (21st)

2023 - 21.2 seconds (4th)

2022 - 20.2 seconds (2nd)

2021 - 19.1 seconds (1st)

I don’t want Heupel gone but if he were to leave the Vols would be fine with White.

Just because they’ve gone slow doesn’t mean that’s what they’re trying to do. The goal is always going to be “go fast” and DC’s know that.

I don’t think people will run him off. But he will feel the restlessness and groans from the fanbase. You deal with deficiencies, coach speak, undisciplined teams, etc. when you are winning. When you start to lose, people grow tired of the deficiencies and harp on them. I realized after the first year that he truly says almost nothing whenever he answers questions, it’s all coach speak answers and he never tells you anything on injuries. But I just don’t watch or listen now for that reason and go about life lol.

Can you send those totals without the cupcakes?

We go warp speed against cupcakes to run up the score quickly. But in the big games the last two years, we are not running much tempo. We are back to more tempo this year… Of course the numbers will be inflated with how we play against cupcakes. It always helps our ppg average too since we will go for 60-70 on lower tier schools.

I think Heupel adjusts every year based on personnel and his teams. The offense is much different from last year and even when he got here. He has mixed tempo all the time to in spots and then picking it up when they need too. He wants to go fast when he can, but it’s not how it used to be with every drive. He has shown willingness to adapt his scheme.

We basically abandoned tempo for the majority of the Alabama game and you could tell the gameplan was to slow down and sustain drives. I don’t think we’re ever going back to the speed of that 2022 offense.

If I’m doing it right dividing possession time (in seconds) per espn box score by plays ran:

Vs UGA - not including OT - we ran a play every 18.46 seconds (would be 1st in nation vs avg)

Vs Bama every 22.55 seconds (8th in country vs avg)

Vs ARK every 23.15 seconds (11th vs avg)

Sexton.

I have a mutual connection with Sexton. He will show his hand to get leverage in negotiations. He’s good at what he does.

Years ago in the 00s, I sat next to him at a high school football game, and I pretended that I didn’t know who he was. We chit chatted throughout the game. Extremely down to earth.

People mad at Sexton for doing his job. Not mad at TV for hiring him? Confused.

Don’t think anyone should be mad at either btw. It’s how the business works.
