So the Athletic Department aren't as innocent as everyone was saying... I'm shocked..The only disappointing thing I read here is that the admin side was too cocky and didn’t think he’d leave or an MLB team would take him. That’s such an amateur mistake and not one I’d expect from this athletic dept.
No surprise to me MLB orgs are interested and see his value.
I've avoided this discussion because it has all the trappings of months of yousaidism. I'll share a couple of things. TV, DW others were still working on this last night at 11pm. There were some (meaningful) personality conflicts and misaligned priorities in the program. We were too cocky and didn't think he'd really leave, or that a big MLB program would take him. We were wrong. In fairness, TV is obviously a big ego too. He has some big asks of the program not related to his salary etc., and he expressed those to donors away from the AD. There is indeed real friction. They've been working it through for days. I shared this Summer that the highest risk of losing TV was to MLB not other college programs. I cited the Cardinals and other programs interviewing him, and was mauled for being unrealistic and told he'd never go to the pros. We need to admit that he is seen as a master program manager, and identifier of coaching and player talent. He is not like other college coaches. He's something much more substantial and he's worth the risk of betting on an unknown in the MLB. If something is done this morning, it happened after midnight. As of 11pm EDT, his agents, our side etc were trying to solve it. Bay Area Bob does not have a scoop. He's guessing. Right now the Giants think they'll get him and DW and AD believe we'll keep him. It probably will not go past 5 today. I am much more optimistic than I was on Saturday when most thought it was a done deal. Last night, we were still in it and fighting hard.
Going to the MLB as the first college ever taken such is a great leap . But Tony with all his knowledge , charisma and eye for talent has awarded him this opportunity. Really don't see him being happy with the way MLB his team is run . I'm sure he would have some input on who they drafted and aquire free agency. The organization you can really count on would be the 52 Dodgers they will spend the money on the players. I for one could not live in that environment , just down to earth east Tennessee kinda guy .The only disappointing thing I read here is that the admin side was too cocky and didn’t think he’d leave or an MLB team would take him. Say more about or society in general than it does about our Athletic Department IMO.... this whole situation has really hammered home to me how broken college sports has becomeWhat does it mean…
I take it to simply mean he supports TV, like I would expect any former player of his to. Though I really wish these things wouldn’t play out over social media. Here we are in a night and day better situation than a decade ago, and our dirty laundry still being bared to all.

You and I both know how this ends. Such a Tennessee thing. Gotta say...UT is remarkably consistent in how in finding new and creative ways to crush the souls of their fans.
As always, thanks for posting. Sounds to me like he wants to stay or this thing would probably be over. GBOI've avoided this discussion because it has all the trappings of months of yousaidism. While some don’t like women’s basketball, it’s still our most successful sport by a wide margin and it’s not even close. Summitt has more NC’s than any coach in any sport in SEC history. I respect the hell outta that.I really don't care about the softball team or the women's basketball team. Softball is watchable but God women's basketball is rough.
I’ll happily fight @Stoerner Fumbles. Bare knuckles, in a cage. He probably got aroused reading that.Fight Stoerner! Whatever it takes
