Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

I would tend to agree. And no roster control - players earning more than the manager. Losing lots of games - oy vey.
I hadn’t even thought of that.

“Congratulations, Tony! You did really well this season! You only lost 70 games!”

Doubt a rando with 4K followers is the one to break the news. Probably just someone who’s been following the thought process that Giants wouldn’t announce anything on a day there was a MLB game. I can see right through this.
Note the dude’s pinned tweet.

Yep he said that but the entire landscape of college sports changed when House Settlement was implemented on 7/1/25. With Rev sharing of $20.5M, coaches are scrambling for their respective allocations. Reportedly, LV Basketball received $3M and baseball received much less. CTV knows he needs funds to retain and attract portal talent to UT, or Omaha visits will be harder than ever. The most experienced teams typically make it to Omaha and having $ for key transfers will be more important than ever.
Does rev share not pale in comparison to big donor nil coffers?

Agreed. I'd say he still has connections from his broadcasting days. He runs the regional DOT, so still connected. He does like to stir the pot a little though. He's pretty funny on X.
Huge pot stirrer. Would hope he’d, as a VFL, at least let ink dry before shite-ing all over the internet about it.

I simply can’t imagine a $3 million buyout is going to prevent an organization that made $553 million in 2024 from hiring their guy. If that truly is the only hang up, he’s gone.
If that truly is the only hang up, Tony should see it as a huge red flag and foreteller of the same issues he’s apparently upset with existing just as much where he’s supposedly maybe heading.

AP only said he leaned towards CTV staying but hasn’t heard anything. It was basically a guess. AP clarified that after folks went to X…reporting it as fact.
Huh. Weird that he would lean that way based on nothing. I mean, all the tea leaves have pointed the other direction.

To summarize, in the last 5 minutes we have learned he’s leaving and he’s staying and ultimately that no one knows. But I’ve sure enjoyed talking to you all the last few days.

I mean I guess theorizing about TV leaving is better than watching people argue over whether Heupel being fat affects his coaching ability or not.

I think tomorrow is an off day but not 100% sure.
That schedule is going to tell us a lot. If there’s no practice tomorrow and he’s leaving then any report of a team meeting scheduled before the next practice means he’s gone.

If he’s leaving and there’s a practice then he’s going to tell the team BEFORE and not after so we would hear it 10-15 mins after practice starts.

Lastly, World Series starts Friday, so any movement needs to happen before then to avoid the “no-no” MLB rules.

I don’t want to get my hopes up, but could you imagine how insane the environment will be at LNS this season if he comes back?

I said it another thread earlier, but could you imagine that recruiting sell? Your head coach turned down a MLB offer to stay at a college program. If I'm a young man looking to commit that would speak volumes to me, and would really legitimize Vol baseball even more.
