I wondered, and still do, if this is all Sexton pulling the strings for a raise. Maybe he’s even gotten to Jared Dickey and wants the fan base to turn on Danny White lol.

Like I said the other day, getting kids to listen and grown men to listen is 2 different monsters. He might not last a full season

That's an additional fear if Tony leaves and takes Elander or additional staff with him. It may not be just filling Tony V's role, but multiple ones. This is a tough time of year in the college game to be trying to do that.

Ben McKee suggested that if Tony does go Elander would stick around and take over. I don't think Elander is a MLB guy.

If its true about DW taking money from baseball then the majority of this base will turn on DW. Vols fan bade is nuts to begin with. TV has to know just because he is TV and jumping to the majors is not going to end well, unless he just wants out of Knoxville at all cost and I dont buy that

He’s a motivator. Would be premature to think he won’t be able to connect and motivate players at any level.

The coaches that went from college to NFL that didn’t work are many times “authoritarians” so to speak. Saban, Urban come to mind. A lot of “my way or the highway”. That ain’t TV.

This. I don’t want Josh to go anywhere. He’s been great for us.

I just want him to let go of some of his rigidity, and embrace some change.

I won’t lament 10 Win seasons. But when you keep winning 10 games like Josh has, people are going to want more.

I think he’s capable of more.

I don’t think NFL players look at college football the way MLB players look at college baseball. College football is basically a common experience for every NFL guy, whereas a significant number of MLB players played exactly zero innings of college baseball.

I think that’s a big reason Tony is likely to be the first coach to make this jump. And consequently, I think credibility and respect will be a big initial hurdle for him to clear.

You say that, but as long as football continues to find success, MBB makes a run, and Kim brings the ladies back to dominance, I actually think a majority of the fanbase won’t care all that much.

Prob the same people who cheered like crazy when TV said “Make the decision, you’re either a Vol or you’re not. Through thick and thin.”

To be clear I’m a huge TV fan. Best coach in college baseball. Also a big DW fan.

Maybe the credibility but I think TV is the type of guy who will win over a locker room quick and gain respect. He’s got the personality and the work ethic.

But he’ll still have to prove himself to some degree, of course.

It might not be TV but imo it will not work. Even coaches that leaves the pros for college does not workout too good. The only coach that had success was Pete Carroll that I remember right off the top of my head. Bill B going to UNC was a disaster. Now if TV was going to another school then its business as usual for him. Time will tell I guess if he goes.

I want the opposite - A payroll floor.

The Bombers spend a small fraction of their total revenues on salary. They should have a $400M payroll 👀

I hope you’re right. If he goes, he needs to do so well that he becomes a lifer. I don’t want him back in college ball.

This is where my grudge as a Vol comes into play. If he does leave, I hope he goes and it turns out to be the worst decision he ever made. Then, when he returns to college, we play him every year, beating him to a pulp to where he can never get past us and back to the only game that matters.
