Yeah it was a bit of a low blow but wtf is Jared doing spewing off like that? He ought to know better. Love Jared, nothing against him. Respect him. But dude needs to keep his mouth shut and keep his comments about other people’s business off of social media. He ain’t helping anyone doing that, and I’m sure that’s what he was told right after he did it. Wouldn’t be surprised if it came from TV too.

I know I’m clearly in the minority here, BUT IMO:

The sky isn't falling, because the foundation is already built. Tony wasn't doing this alone, Josh Elander is a rock star in waiting and has been the engine of our offensive success and elite recruiting just as much as Tony has. The players love him and talk about how pivotal of a role he plays in their development. Keeping Frank's pitching development alongside Elander's offensive development and recruiting means the system stays in place.

Do I want to keep Tony and would we be better off with him? Absolutely

I also think Elander is a stud and can do great things here also.

Tony has his guys in his corner. None of us should be surprised he's fighting for Tony. It's a power move I think. There are folks in the media who know exactly what is going on and why and are staying quiet to not be seen as choosing sides. But I did see one float the fact that the Lady Vols basketball team gets a bigger slice of the revenue sharing pie. Seemed intentional.

I thought these were the new portal rules specific to departing coaches.

If your head coach departs, you get a 15-day window from the day after the departure is announced to enter the transfer portal—regardless of sport or time of year.

This gives athletes time to reassess their fit and transfer with full eligibility when team leadership changes unexpectedly.

They just changed this. Now it's a 15-day period beginning 5 days after a NEW coach is hired. Teams that already had openings prior to the new rules are grandfathered into the old rules. But not many takers from those teams thus far.

Juat a point of clarification on the Brad Stevens comp. He made the playoffs in 7 of 8 years and made the conference finals 3 times. Not too shabby.

He is dumb. Think the environment is worse than when made decisions like firing a ball of fame coach and replacing him with a snot nosed brat like lane kiffin? Worse than when we were losing to bama by 40 every year and losing to Kentucky and Vanderbilt for the first time in decades? Than when we fired a beloved bball coach over a… checks notes, barbecue violation? Worse than when the fans were so unhappy that they waged a full on media war that got us stuck with… checks notes, Jeremy Pruitt?

We got it pretty good right now. I’m good with the prices being more given the product is infinitely better across the whole department. I’d be good with it even if I got priced out of being able to attend the show.

Guys I think this sucks. But can we really disparage Tony for taking a MLB job? This has literally never happened for a college coach. I would be pissed if he left for Arkansas. Pissed if he left to be the manager of the trash pandas. But pissed if he took a job as a mlb manager? Hard to fault him for that.
