Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

Lol. Can’t wait for all the Danny White defenders to come in here and say a former player isn’t a good source.
I mean he does have a track record of emotional/mental challenges…

And plenty of former players have been know to mouth off and not have any actual knowledge of what’s going on. Dickey would probably fit that bill…

So Tony is pissed off because of Revenue sharing because he didn't get a big enough slice ? WBB has a lot of support and it is one of the faces of the University. Pat built that. I love Tony, something is off here though imo. I mean it comes down to numbers and I have no idea what those are but the girls deserve to be paid just like all the other athletes. I don't think Tony wants to hold other programs hostage but he is the 2nd highest paid coach in College Baseball, got a 100m dollar stadium renovation to his vision..... He has put in the work to build Baseball here and is a fan favorite, with all that said it is still business which is what DW is here to negotiate and over see ALL Athletics. He has to run every program from a financial standpoint and upper level decision making. I guess we will see how it turns out

Come on, you know better. A former player is almost always going to support his coach. Even he surely doesn’t have all of the information. Just making a comment.

This entire discussion is all just speculative.

More likely Vitello told him to stay out of it regardless of what he’s going to do
Probably good advice regardless of what’s going on behind scenes. TV is navigating the game, he doesn’t need every joe shoe and his mother clogging up the comment section about it. Thats how plans get derailed. I don’t think Tony or DW want this decided in court of public opinion. That drives them further apart, not together.

*I've not liked Danny for a while now. I think he's gotten too greedy. I don't like how he's told lifelong fans (the locals) to pony up or get out. It's not right... I don't care what anyone says about "supply and demand" or "look at the waiting list". It's just not the right way to treat people.

**If any of this is true, then I'd believe Tony before I would Danny.

I watched the video of the booster posted a few pages ago and he's clearly more-informed than anyone on this board and more honest than any of our media.

I was just explaining to my buddy the other day the pickle ESPN finds itself in right now, and via ownership-Disney. How many of y'all realized that those constantly rising cable prices were all thanks to ESPN? They would negotiate deals for media rights that no one else could beat and then they would go back to the cable companies, write down a number and say, "Give us this or we bolt." The cable companies had no choice, ESPN was one of the biggest reasons people kept cable for as long as they did. But they are losing that leverage with the streaming and other networks more than willing to spend what it would take to secure SEC rights. It's the hottest thing on TV every weekend and y'all watch those games: they are loaded with ads.

ESPN is a dying network and this ESPN Unlimited ploy is a last-ditch effort to generate some of that lost revenue from people cutting cords.

Also I bet Tony stays at this point based on what he said. I bet he gets some concessions that he asks for. Probably some he didn't. We'll see though. Everyone has the same information I do.

You are close my friend but not 100% accurate. Worked with one of the companies you mentioned closely for 6 years.

Disney negotiates for carriage of all their network properties as a bundle with the cable companies and not just ESPN.

The people on cable who watch ESPN is a small percentage of total cable subscribers hence the reason that Disney, Peacock and Paramount all refuse to go ala cart.

They all tell the cable companies if you want this your have to take that. They force a bundle and if the cable companies don’t play they could lose a huge amount of the most important channels. Go lookup all the cable channels that Disney owns and then think huge negotiations. Most cable companies would love to offer the sports properties on separate tier but the. Disney’s whole revenue model falls apart.

So all of your leverage is right but it is more about all the properties Disney is leveraging in the negotiation not just ESPN.

Reactions: Sandman Vol
CTV specifically referred to the “missing pieces” on the 25 team. Other schools are absolutely providing a higher % of Rev share to baseball. Ex: it’s been reported that Ark provided all of women’s basketball $ to baseball. I’m sure CTV has examples of portal players he didn’t close because of $ shortages.
Ark doesn’t care about women’s basketball. If TV was asking DW to take a chunk of the Lady Vols rev share and give it to him then that’s an unreasonable ask imo.

That’s really sad of you to disparage a former VOL. Wow, you must be proud. Jared is one of the absolute best young men you’d ever meet. A true VFL who shared his challenges publicly to help others.
